Incredible hike of over 2.074 ft. (622 meters). There are plenty of Buddhist temples along the hiking trails. There are many ways to get to the top from easy, moderate, hard, or even very challenging hikes. The views are absolutely incredible, both of the mountains are Seoul and South is Anyang City and Anyang Art Park. I chose to start at Gwanak Station near Anyang City to Gwancheong-dong (taking photos and videos along the way and resting to admire the views, please give yourself plenty of time. It took me 10 hours). Please do not take the trail to Gwancheong-dong as it is an unauthorized area (Unfortunately, I had no idea because it was very late at night and too dark). I do however recommend to visit few temples on the way to the top. Highly recommend the hiking trails ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘ Please pack a liter of water, ypu will...

Debated between 4 and 5 stars for this one, but went with 5 for two main reasons: the proximity to Seoul and ease of access using public transportation.

The hiking itself is okay. There are far better hikes as well as significantly taller mountains in the area. The views from Gwanaksan aren't that great either. The peaks on Gwanaksan are topped with eyesore weather arrays, cable cars and antennae, which noticeably detract from the natural beauty. The views of the surrounding peaks and southern part of Seoul aren't nearly as impressive as the views of the surrounding peaks and the heart of downtown Seoul like you'd find at Bukhansan or even Inwangsan.

But it is a change of pace from hiking in Seoul itself, and it is easy to reach with public transportation. So negatives aside, I still think it's worth visiting if...
