Menorca Airport in September was a truly pleasant experience, especially for our group of four, which included one person with special needs. I'm glad we travelled when we did, as it wasn't too busy, which made a huge difference. Upon arrival, we were struck by how short the bus ride from the plane to the terminal building was. It seemed a ridiculously short trip, almost not worth the hassle of getting on the bus in the first place, but I suppose rules are rules. Once inside, the disabled accessibility services were fantastic and very easy to use. I was particularly impressed that the staff were right there to meet us, and we were fast-tracked through passport control, which saved us a lot of time and stress. Baggage retrieval was equally efficient; our bags appeared on the carousel in no time at all. Our pre-booked taxi was waiting right where it was supposed to be, making the whole arrival process completely seamless. On the way home, things were mostly just as smooth. Passport control was simple and quick. We found the duty-free wasn't too busy, which was a nice change from the chaos you often see at bigger airports. The food available was reasonably priced, though I certainly wouldn't call it cheap, it was fair for an airport. The only real complaint was the gate area, which was quite crowded with very few seats available. We were also told that disabled people would be boarded first on our Jet2 flight, which was great. However, we then had a very long wait for the bus to take us to the airplane, which was a bit of an anticlimax after such a smooth boarding process. To top off our trip, and not in a good way, we were unfortunately notified that one of our suitcases had burst while being loaded onto the plane. I will give Jet2 credit though; they notified us quickly, and by the time we got our bags, they had done a decent repair. The most important thing, however, was that we were promised a new suitcase upon arrival at Newcastle Airport. This, more than anything, speaks to good customer service. Overall, a good experience at a well-run, if slightly...
Read moreI do like to visit this lovely nice bright & very clean airport twice a year. Its surprisingly spacious for a fairly small airport. On landing, you may be lucky and get a walk straight off the plane shoot into the arrivals building. Otherwise, it's most likely a standing bus transfer on the tarmac .Once inside arrivals your now faced with possiby winding queues for passport control checks / stamping which is still taking place as of June 2025.Onto the luggage collection area with numerous carousels ,then it's out of the sliding doors & turn left towards the coach park or straight ahead out the building for taxi's & car hire .On your return journey home, there are plenty of checking desks with a huge digital board above showing all the important relevant information, Next it's upstairs via the escalator with your boarding passes ,there's plenty of electronic scanning gates .Then security checks are next ,still the usual chaos in place ,take any electronic equipment,& regulation size toiletries out of your hand luggage etc ,jackets, belts watches, must come off before entering the full body scanners ,it's better to feel safe than sorry .Then you'll walk through duty-free into departures, there's now more options to grab a bite to eat & drink after improvements a few years ago for the airport experience. There's a dedicated area for smokers/vapes. The toilets are very clean & well maintained. Flights back to the UK require you to go through the passport stamping process once again .I tend to go through this 1st, then sit back & relax the other side .Then it's a case of waiting for boarding the plane with possible options I mentioned on arrival. I do enjoy my visits to menorca .It's my favourite holiday destination, and I will be returning back to this beautiful, relaxing island in a few...
Read moreOMG. The carpark ticket machine is a nightmare and the barrier system a puzzle you would find deep inside the crystal maze!!
Here are the instructions; (in order to win a crystal and exit before you get locked in).
Park in any bay near the pay machines a few rows back (avoid restricted bays like EV/ Disabled unless you have a suitable pass)
Parking is pay by the minute, but very reasonable (it was less than €1 for our pickup). Ignore the ladies walking round with clipboards. I have no idea what they are doing.
No English language option on the pay machines, scan the QR code on the ticket by waving in front of the sensor and use contactless to make payment.
Drive to the large exit with 2 barriers (don’t go down the rabbit hole one way system to the small funnelled exit or you’ll be trapped).
The exit barrier if your final obstacle. Ignore the “red herring” ticket slot below the screen. It can throw you off for 20 seconds. Beware cars queuing behind you and getting impatient. DO NOT push the help button in your frustration … it will end with a translation issue and you will get locked in!
The key is to either have a driver behind you exit their vehicle and show you how it works OR … if you place your ticket 🎫 FACE UP on the logo showing the QR code .. the barrier will magically open!
I’ve been trapped twice. I’m hoping that this guide will help you on your quest to discover...
