Part of me wanted to give this mountain a 1-star but I can't blame the mountain for our struggles climbing it! We set off at about 08.30 on quite a windy and stormy day but it quickly climbed to over 30 degrees with what felt like no air at times. After hours of verging on heat stroke and blisters that only satans sandals know of we made it to the top. Superb views of both side of the penninsula with a sheer drop facing the north-west side. Also fed a tiny lizard some of my sandwich ham!
BRING A LOT OF WATER, LIKE MORE THAN THAT, AND BUY SOME MORE! Bring food as well, took us around 4 hours to climb.
One sad note of the walk was that being higher up and away from the main tourist trails we could see several land fills that were just scars into the landscape behind the huge resort hotels whilst climbing this, a sad reality of such tourist focused...
Read moreI read some reviews before my hike and all advised the same - go in early morning. Obviously plenty of people think like that and are afraid of the sun. I suggest something else - go later, e.g. at noon like I did, its great and you enjoy the top without crowds of people. In november the sun isn't so strong and you have it all the time up in your back which is better than face it. I met plenty of people going down but i met just 3 couples and one guy heading up. I went up with a pretty decent pace from the main street in Morro Jable near the lighthouse and I was up in about 2 hours. On the top there was just 1 guy and one couple during about half an hour I spent up there. The view especially on Cofete is amazing and I believe you enjoy it most without other dozens of people who had the same idea start the hike in...
Read moreThis is a 13km round hike/walk up and back down from the car park at C Sanho Panza. It is approx 6.5k each way. (Measured on the way back down with Map My Run app). It took us approx 2 hour 15 mins to walk up and 1 hour 45 mins to walk back down with lots of stops for photos. This is a superb hike with amazing 360 degree views. When you do get to the very top you will either have a superb view of the other side of the mountain or it’ll be cloudy and you won’t be able to see anything. But dont let that stop you as the views on the way up are well worth it and the cloud cover MIGHT just clear at the top for a short while. Its impossible to get lost as it’s one long wide footpath. Best walk we’ve done on the whole...
