One of the most beautiful underrated hiking areas near Andorra..
My partner and myself went hiking here with our dog in December. The sun was out that day, it wasn't too hot, but not cold either and it was breathtaking.
We google-mapped our way with the car to the starting point - which seems a tiny town with parking possibilities, food and coffee places and hotels. In the town square you can find arrows that show you the direction of each trail,so from there the climb actually starts.
We chose for C1-123 and its rated Hard for a reason so please choose carefully. The hike is a pretty rough climb but the real challenge comes after the first 2,5 hours - when tou start heading to the snowy peaks. There's very narrow trails you can walk on at the edge of the cliffs and they were entirely covered in slippery ice. (not soft snow but actual ice) - We had no idea so we had nothing to hold on to but ourself and it was so dangerous that we had to do multiple stops to not lose balance. So some gear is recommended up there! haha
Ofcourse in between there are multiple more flat-areas where you can walk around, enjoy the absolutely AMAZING views, before you continue heading up. Finally at the peak of that trail.. it's like a dream.. you can walk around freely there and its huge vast lands, where all you see around you are peaks of the surrounding trails and just beauty & nature..
Our trail was a whole circle, so the walk down wasnt the same route as coming up. That was a very fun hike down, more spacious, though still very slippery and full of snow/ice so still dangerous! but it looks beautiful and the smells are fresh of pine and the silence was so soothing..

Read moreFantastic mountain. Pedraforca is one of the most simbolic mountains in Catalunya. We did the round trekking in aproximately 5 hours. The difficult is moderate if you are fit. Is aproximately 1:30/2 hours untill the top and then you have an easy grimpada (easy climb) to arrive untill the top. Plenty of free parking. There is a refugi at the entrance with a shop to buy some drinks or food and get information if needed. Path is marked but not really well marked, therefore is easy to get a bit lost. I totally recomend to have...
