Apparently Villa Torrent has been a B&B for a long time. Ownership changed in early 2024 and some renovations ensued. This review focuses on the retreat option the new management has introduced but it is relevant to comment on the business as a B&B first.
The impression is that the renovation probably concentrated on ensuring the boarding facilities for the B&B were of a good standard. This has been achieved and provided you have your own transportation (as the location is remote if you are on foot) this would be a very comfortable place to stay. Additionally there are kitchenette facilities and common areas (including a pool) to enjoy outside your room. One Casa has shared bathroom facilities so if this is a concern check availability before booking. There are still some issues with air conditioning and hot water but I believe they are close to being corrected.
Moving to the Retreat option I would echo previous comments online which laud the hikes, the quality of the food, and the yoga instruction. The attention of the team to helping you enjoy your time is impressive. The unexpected bonus was how much I enjoyed the company of the other participants and the Retreat team.
I would caution those who are unfamiliar with hiking and the privations of a retreat to ask careful questions to ensure they will truly appreciate this experience. I found that if possible your concerns can largely be addressed if you voice them early enough. But you need a high acceptance of dogs for example (there were five on my retreat and lovely individually - but they can be a lot when acting in concert).
Finally it has to be said that the Retreat has been established with the infrastructure of a B&B, that means there are sometimes rough edges to the experience. The need for a covered yoga and exercise area is one, strong sun and rain seriously impacts the on site activities.
I think most people interested in using the retreat as a way to escape city life and de-stress for a while will probably find the concerns above to be more enjoyable features rather than bugs! I am...
Read moreI loved my stay at Villa Torrent!! Here is what I loved most:
The Villa -I truly loved waking up by the rooster from next door, as well as the clockclock of their turkeys throughout the day. All day was filled with the jolly chatter of sparrows. When they chatter, your brain just doesn't and that's magic!! -I looooooooooved the smell of the orange blossems - so amazing! -The garden and the terrasses are stunning - to be surrounded by such beauty
Read moreI had a truly wonderful time at this retreat. The schedule was very well thought out: after a healthy breakfast, we’d head off on scenic hikes, followed by lunch, some free time to relax, yoga or other wellness activities, then dinner. It struck a great balance between structure and flexibility, with all activities being optional.
The food was a real highlight—healthy, flavorful, and varied, with good vegetarian options. I have a gluten intolerance and was mostly provided with gluten-free alternatives, which I appreciated.
The setting was lovely: peaceful, surrounded by nature with birdsong in the background, and lots of inviting spaces to relax. There’s a small pool, comfortable outdoor seating, and even a great coffee setup with a Nespresso machine available all day.
The retreat is dog-friendly, which added to the charm for me. There are several dogs on the property, so it helps if you're an animal lover.
Our yoga teachers, Anais and Natalia, were fantastic—warm, welcoming, and attentive to all levels of experience. They created a lovely, inclusive atmosphere and really made the sessions enjoyable for everyone.
The host, who also cooked our meals and led the hikes, clearly put a lot of care into the retreat. The hikes were beautiful and our taste buds really spoiled with a very good variety of dishes, including desserts.
All in all, it was a truly memorable and enriching experience. I met some wonderful people and left feeling refreshed and grateful. Thank you to the whole team for creating such a...
