This is a very ancient devalaya which has a long history and a great archaeological value. It is devoted for god Thaniyawallaba who was once a regional king who ruled this area. He had won a war but because of mislead news about his death caused suicide of his queen and others. Because of unbearable heart pain of his wife s death he alsoo did suicide himself jumping on to his sword which is placed vertically on the tank which is called "Kadupiti wewa" now. People believe that after his death he was considered to be born as a god and he's travelling all over this area as the guardian of this village "Madampe".
