Mirissa Snorkeling & Fishing Tours — Local services in Sri Lanka

Just went on snorkeling adventure with my family (wife and three kids aged 14/13/7) and we had a blast. Best time to experience turtles is in the morning before 12pm. These guys make it a personal experience so it’s just you and them. They didn’t leave our side for one second. They guide you right from the beginning, ensuring the right equipment for each individual and in the water they take you right to the turtles. You can feed them, swim with them and touch them. The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. During the whole process they emphasized safety and as a father that meant a lot. The duration was almost two hours and afterwards we were not rushed and the kids were able to play on the beach. Back at their place they gave us the opportunity to shower and change as well as gave us tea, biscuits and banana. Very kind hearted people. I would trust, recommend and use their services again.

I have to say, it’s kinda cool to swim and interact with the turtles. Not an experience I can explain but definitely well worth it. For the same price of a family meal, this is not breaking the bank, the memories will last and will be cherished for years to come. They took great photos and videos with their GoPro and gave it all to us at no extra charge.

Tldr - Do not trust, please avoid.

As soon as I reached he started screaming at me and my husband that a ship is going, get inside it. My husband doesn’t know how to swim so we always ask a few questions to see if it’s comfortable for us, I am not a very advanced swimmer, but I’ve done snorkelling in about 6 odd countries till now.

He wasn’t happy answering more than 1 question, told us the price and then started screaming at us to get into the boat. I said I need to think, pls give me sometime, I was okay letting this one go.

And then he started, racial slurs for us being Indians, said I will now not take you, I have enough customers and I refuse to take you (we were taken aback, in the last few minutes we had barely gotten a few words in, and he went on a rampage for no reason, we did not have an argument.

When you go deep inside the waters, the most important part is to trust the team or guide taking you inside. This guy showed nothing to invoke confidence, rather I decided that i will not go snorkelling if it means going with this guy (thankfully wasn’t the case, mirissa has tons of other good diving centres right by the beach who do both diving and...
