Fort Nieuw Amsterdam — Local services in Commewijne

The outdoor museum looks totally deserted. Nothing is maintained or painted, broken things all over, up to posing a danger for children if one is not careful enough. I visited this place 9 years ago too and looked better.

2018 was ik hier voor het laatst geweest in dit voorheen zo prachtige openluchtmuseum. Afgelopen week (mei 2025) opnieuw bezocht. Wat ontzettend jammer om te zien dat het totaal niet onderhouden is in de afgelopen jaren. Het lichtschip is niet meer te zien, alles eromheen is volledig dichtgegroeid. Voorheen kon je ook gemakkelijk naar het plantagehuis toelopen; helaas is dit ook niet meer wat het was en moet je door heel wat begroeiing heen om daar te komen.
