We stayed one night in the wilderness suite. Check in was easy and contact-free, staff is available via phone. Location of the camp is absolutely great! Very little light pollution so it's perfect to see the northern lights. Also it's nice to walk around a bit on the frozen lake located directly at the camp or in the woods around :) There are multiple saunas you can use free of charge. They also have an outdoor Jacuzzi, which you can book, not free of charge.
The wilderness suite was very cozy with an wood fired oven which heated up the room very nicely after a bit. The private sauna also is woodfired. We really enjoyed our stay, there are only few little things we did not enjoy that much.
First, the toilet is freeeeezing cold. I think they built it as an addition to the main room just with woodpanels with zero isolation. And when I say freezing I mean freezing, it had the same temperature as outside😅 Second, they have some rules before you checkout. Wash your dishes, all fine I do that either ways, but the bathroom sink you have to use is very very tiny and they don't provide a drying towel or something. Just made it a bit complicated to wash them properly and dry them to put them back. Also: the kitchen is very very small and not a real kitchen, it is like a shelf with an oven/stovetop combination on top and the shelf has the plates etc. For us that was no problem, but if you plan on cooking a three course meal it could get complicated 😅 Next rule was to take out the trash, also absolutely no problem, but it would be great if the note with the rules would also answer the question where to bring the trash. We ended up carrying it with us because we didn't know where to dispose it 😅
But all in all we were very happy 😊 as an addition I put some pictures of the aurora we saw...

Pluses: Beautiful location (of both camp and our particular cabin - view over the river!) Staff super friendly and absolutely lovely! (Although none of them spoke Swedish, unexpected) Our cabin was equipped with all necessities (as well as own sauna and fire place, which was a nice touch) -Access to outdoor Jacuzzi if you pre book and pay 250 SEK extra the company has a lot of activities that you can participate in
Minuses: breakfast not included and cost 100 SEK per meal. Breakfast was basic and bread a bit dry, so a little pricey) No private changing room for the Jacuzzi. Our cabin was a couple of 100 m from the jacuzzi itself so in order to not have to walk that distance undressed in -12 Celsius, we were told to use the communal shower. while we were in the jacuzzi, another guest (?) went to have a shower and we had to wait for him to get ready before we could get out. He spent 30 minutes in there... with our stuff exposed inside their webpage is not very informative and a bit messy. (We strongly advise you email them directly and confirm everything you need to know before you book) while we were in the jacuzzi, a member of staff came by with a large group of guests, showing them the jacuzzi. A little more privacy would have been great
All in all, an amazing stay. We were lucky enough to see some northern lights, and we got engaged under them - so Aurora Camp Kurravaara will always hold a place...
Read moreThis place is "remote" but only 15mins taxi ride from Kiruna. I felt like I was in another world. I stayed in the Artic Light cabin that had AMAZING reviews of the Northern Lights. I saw the aurora 3 times I was there. The third time, the aurora went for 3+ hours. ||When compared to other places I stayed at, including Abikso, this place was by far the best because I could see the auorora AND keep warm.||Tips:||* Choosing your room matters; I'd pay extra just to see the aurora from the warmth of the cabin. I froze my a$$ off in other places and i just wanted to go back inside.||* Download apps and look at the aurora webcam to determine what time is best to see the aurora. Although the webcam pretty much shows that it happens daily; you just need good visibility. ||* Cameras are a must. Photons/light particles are processed differently by the eye. Even though you can see a strong aurora without any help; it looks even better/more intense if you use a camera. I had my S10 on nightview. Just keep it still if taking photos. If using a normal camera; use short exposure (3-5 sec).||* Cabin comes with a kitchen if you want to cook. I had the camp meals (you have to give them 24hrs notice; even on your first night). ||* Get alcohol from Kiruna.||I was a solo traveller and the staff were really nice and accommodating. They were also very hospitable. ||I spent 2 weeks in Sweden trying to see the lights. Knowing what I know now, I would've spent more time here and less time...
