I had high expectations on the tour organized by Lights of Vikings after the excellent reviews founded on various online sites and I must say that I was not disappointed: I can only highly recommend you rely on this company for your aurora hunting! We booked a private tour and we had Cristina, one of the founders of the company, as guide and photographer all to ourselves. The tour we booked also included a 3-course dinner (starter, main course and dessert - drinks not included) at the Abisko Mountain Lodge. The restaurant is a nice and relaxing location, the food served is really good and the service is excellent(kind and friendly waiters). We were very lucky because, even before the theorical explanation of the phenomenon, during dinner, wonderful northern lights exploded in the sky. Cristina, the guide, immediately led us out and took the first photos of our tour. After these first lights we returned to the restaurant and the guide introduced her colleague Felipe who, speaking to us in Italian (our mother tongue), was able to best explain us what we had just seen. In any case, Cristina had already spoken with us without problems, using excellent English. Once dinner was over, the guide says that there were favorable conditions to be able to observe the aurora already in the surrounding area and therefore we did not have to move far away: we travelled a few more kilometers by car and stopped beyond the roadside to find an area that allowed us to admire the sky without light pollution. Here the guide carefully prepared a nice fire around which we could wait for new beams of northern lights, talk, drink good hot tea and eat good biscuits that she had brought with her for us. This too, in itself, was a truly beautiful and relaxing experience, thanks also to a temperature that was favorable to us (about 0ºC or just below). We had the opportunity to see the aurora above our heads for some time, take other photos and also get information from the guide on some stars/constellations clearly visible in the sky. We thank Cristina for the evening spent together in which, more than just a tour guide, she seemed to be an integral part of our group. She made us live a special experience that we will certainly not forget, also thanks to the beautiful photos that she took of us and...
Read moreIf you want to see the Northern Lights then Lights of Vikings is where you need to book your tours! These people are amazing. They go above and beyond to make sure your trip (not just your tour) is the best it can possibly be. Me and my partner joined for three nights with the Aurora pass. Next time we might join them for even more nights. On the first night we already got to see the lights. They made a cozy campfire to keep us nice and warm. The second night was very cloudy in Abisko and most other places. They picked us up early so we could drive very far out. They managed to find us beautiful clear skies (which was very impressive). We didn't see the lights that night simply because the lights did not show up. It was an adventure nevertheless. The amount of dedication these people have to chase clear skies for you is incredible. The next day we did not have a tour with them. Yet in the morning I still received a phone call from them telling us to go outside and look up. There was a super rare (more rare than aurora) stratospheric polar cloud. They wanted to make sure we did not miss it. On our last night we joined up with them again and we saw the most intense and most beautiful light show. It was more beautiful than we could possibly imagine. They took so many nice pictures of us and they made stunning time lapse videos. We will never...
Read moreChristina and Onur were amazing guides. From start to finish, this Northern Lights tour was nothing short of exceptional. The entire experience was incredibly well-organized — everything ran smoothly, from transportation to timing, and you could tell the team had thoughtfully planned every detail to give us the best possible chance of seeing the aurora. What really stood out was how educational the tour was. Our guide didn’t just take us to a good viewing spot — they took the time to explain the science behind the Northern Lights, the local legends and lore, and even taught us how to photograph them properly. It added so much depth and meaning to what we were witnessing in the sky. Most importantly, the staff were warm, friendly, and truly passionate about what they do. Their personable approach made the group feel like a small community rather than just another tour. They went above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable and engaged, and their genuine excitement was contagious. This tour was not just about seeing the Northern Lights (which were absolutely breathtaking) — it was about connecting with nature, learning something new, and sharing a magical night with great people. Highly,...
