What a sight to see! This pilatus takes you on a 5 minute trip to the mountain side. On the way up you get gorgeous views of the lake and the swiss Alps! For a round trip doing just this one pilatus (there's more) was 24 Frank's for 2 adults and our kids (3 & 5) and our dog were free. You pay when you get to the top (first stop). You just stand in line at the bottom and get on quickly when it's your turn. Each cabin seats 8 people. Then pay the gentlemen when you get to the top. It's Swiss Frank's cash only, no card. You can also purchase a pass. If you forgot cash, no worries, the resturant at the top can give you cash with purchase. At the top, there's an indoor resturant with a gorgeous view! There's indoor and outdoor seating, both with sites of the gorgeous view. There's also a trail to the next pilatus lift which I believe was about an hour or more (depending on the trail you take up). I was scared out of my wits, but it was worth the trip! The gentleman that takes your payment at the top was very outgoing and nice to talk to too.

The drive up the mountain to the Pilatus was...

The boat ride out from Lucerne to Alpnachstand was incredible and the staff were super helpful. The scenery was sublime. However when we arrived to alpnachstad we wanted to buy tickets For the train up to the top of Pilatus, this is where we encountered problems. The woman behind the desk was very bitter and rude to us. We wanted to know if the day tickets we had meant we were eligible for half price tickets up the mountain which is what we had been told by a member of staff on the ferry and a lot of websites we had looked at, it turns out we weren’t eligible however the way she went about telling us was appalling. Once we purchased the tickets we were lead into a small pen to wait 45 minutes for the next train even though our boat had just arrived. There was about 50 people waiting in this pen and only one bench that was occupied. My diabetic father had to stand in the boiling sun for the next train. The journey up the mountain was however stupendous. They should consider working on the scheduling and the politeness of the staff at the...

We did the Golden Hour or whatever it's called. Started in Luzern and jumped on the train since it's 45mins faster to the COG wheel. Then got lucky and caught the first COG wheel to the top. IT'S STEEP. But the views are amazing. We took way too many pics. Do the dragon trail and then keep walking up the steps. Everything circles back to the main part where the food/bathrooms are any way. The stairs to heaven are awesome too. We were some of the first ones there for the day bc it gets busy and after being up there for an hour or so you could tell everyone and their mom was coming up. Make sure to stop at the tobagon run on the way down on the rail car. It's sooooo much fun and had amazing views. There were some guys playing/blowing these old school horn and you hear the cows and their bells the entire time. We ended up taking the small rail car down from the tobagon run and caught the bus back to Luzern....
