The ropeway to get up to this mountain is included in the Appenzeller Ferienkarte.
Upon arriving, we found the mountain extremely crowded. We later discovered that we had stumbled upon an air show, which we were completely unaware of.
The view was beautiful, and the air show added to its grandeur. In a sense, we were fortunate enough to witness this event by sheer coincidence.
The only drawback of this is that it was so crowded with people, depending on which side you were on, you couldn’t see much of the landscape. Additionally, the sheer number of bugs was abnormal. So much so that they would come flying at you the entire time you were up there, into your face, stick to your clothes, and even get in.
It was a horrifying experience. More than enjoying the view, I was so concerned about bugs getting into my mouth and clothes… Tbh, I’m not sure if there are usually this many bugs around or if it was just that day. Perhaps the smell of food and scattered scraps contributed to the bug infestation. I’ll never know for sure.
