Not so much for families. The funicular itself is great with stunning view, including an unusual gorge. BUT, when you get to the top station, you need to climb very steeply for at least 75 minutes (including 10 easy minutes when walking on the dam), to get to the only place where you can buy some drinks/food, or start the advertised 1.5 hours round trip "for families". Moreover, drinking water is not available at the top station, nor at the cabin. So, after a long tedious climb, you have 2 options for water at the cabin: great tasty free water from a tap clearly signed as "non potable", or, pay more than 5 chf for one cup of non bottled water, from an unknown and undeclared but supposedly "safe" origin... I think this place is great as starting point for professional and amateur hikers. Families with kids will enjoy...
