Stockhorn — Local services in Erlenbach im Simmental

The Stockhorn is 2,190 m (7,190 ft) high and is accessible via cable car from Erlenbach. It has a restaurant at the top and is a good starting point for many hikes. There is good fishing in the two lakes right below the Stockhorn, the Oberstockensee (around 1,650 m [5,410 ft] high) and the Hinterstockensee (around 1,550 m [5,090 ft] high). There is a subterranean water connection between the two lakes.

Il sentiero é molto suggestivo e vi permette di osservare con tranquillità flora e fauna, come pure di passeggiare lungo le rive dei laghi Hinterstockensee e Oberstockensee. Tramite un tunnel posto appena sotto potete accedere ad una terrazza panoramica con pavimento trasparente, situata sulla quasi verticale parete nord, a picco sulla città di Thun.

Ein wunderschöner Panoramagipfel, dessen schaufelförmiger Gipfel die Skyline der Stadt Thun charakterisiert und mit der Seilbahn erreichbar ist. Man wird ihn jedoch mehr genießen, wenn man zu Fuß hinaufsteigt. Der Weg ist eindrucksvoll und ermöglicht , Flora und Fauna in Ruhe zu beobachten, sowie entlang der Ufer der Hinterstockensee- und Oberstockensee-Seen zu schlendern. Direkt unter dem Gipfel erreicht man durch einen Tunnel die Panoramaterrasse mit durchsichtigem Boden, an der nahezu senkrechter Nordwand mit Blick auf die Stadt Thun und auf den Thunersee.

If you travel by train from Bern you will need about an hour to get here. From the train station in Erlenbach im Simmental you will need about 10-15 minutes to get to the cableway...but the houses on the way are beautiful! You can go all the way to the top where you will find a restaurant and if you climb up a bit from there you can get a fantastic view of the mountains and the Thun Lake.
