Piz Bernina is a true giant! Standing over 4,000 meters, it’s the highest peak in the Eastern Alps and the only “four-thousander” in the region. If you’re lucky with the weather, its snow-covered summit will leave you speechless. Just seeing it from a distance is a thrill – climbing it is a whole different story. For seasoned mountaineers, it’s a serious challenge, but for us regular folks, it’s perfectly fine to admire it from the comfort of various viewpoints, maybe with a nice cup of coffee in hand. 😄 (instagra...

Highest and only 4000m peak in the Eastern Alps and in Swiss canton Graubünden. Magnificent, surrounded by glaciers and fine ridges. Even the easiest route from Rifugio Marco e Rosa over Spallagrat is fairly difficult and not undangerous - climbing with short sections up to AD, lots of loose rock, sharp exposed snow ridge at the top. When we were up, there was a helicopter rescue due to a...

Highest mountain around the morteratsch glacier. Even in summer the mountain is fully covered by a layer of snow, and snow avalanches are able to be seen a few times per day.
