This is a great place to view sunrise (and sunset) and avoid some of the crowds. The trail is perfect to do in the dark (as long as you bring a headlamp), it’s well maintained and there are signposts every 100 meters making it almost impossible to get lost.
If you plan to view the sunrise take note that the view towards the East is partially blocked by the observatory building. The best view would be from the roof of the observatory but access is prohibited.
From the trailhead it took me a bit more than an hour. The sign states the length of the trail with 3.5 km, it’s actually ~3.75 and those “extra“ meters are steep :)

First 2kms are mainly walking beside the train tracks. Once you reach the fork between “mianyue line” and the Tashan trail, it is mostly stairs. But all those hardwork, i think it is WORTH IT!
