金門是一個美麗之島。大、小金門的湖泊相當多，其中有一些原先是廢棄的魚塭，當水草、灌木在水邊蔓生之後，提供了魚類、昆蟲、兩棲類和水鳥最佳的棲息地。因此，每年夏候鳥與冬候鳥便成群結隊而來，許多珍奇的烏類逐在此過境或成為留鳥。

從田野間放眼望去，池塘的綠水襯托著矗立在一旁古色古香的老厝，烏兒在其間飛舞與棲息。另外，在僻靜的湖畔，還有機會不經意地和蒼翡翠或戴勝偶遇。這些饒富趣味的畫面和優雅的景致，是在其他地區所不常見到的。

在地質景觀方面，整個金門島嶼由花崗岩所構成。太武山附近可以見到大片裸露的岩石，幾處海岸也有豐富的岩場。百年來金門人將花崗岩視為上等建材，他們所居住的傳統閩南式建築的基座，都以一塊塊方型的花崗岩堆砌而成。

在金門，閩式建築的美、花崗岩的傳奇、珍奇鳥類的身影和戰役紀念的震撼，交織成一首雄渾美妙樂章。

Kinmen is a beautiful island. There are quite a few lakes in the Big and Little Kinmen, some of which were originally abandoned fish ponds. When aquatic plants and shrubs grew over the waterside, they provided the best habitat for fish, insects, amphibians and water birds. Therefore, summer migratory birds and winter migratory birds come in droves every year, and many rare crows pass through here or become resident birds.

Looking from the fields, the green water of the pond sets off the antique old houses standing nearby, with birds flying and perching among them. In addition, at the secluded lakeside, there is a chance to encounter green jade or hoopoe by chance. These interesting pictures and elegant scenery are rarely seen in other areas.

In terms of geological landscape, the entire Kinmen Island is composed of granite. Large expanses of exposed rocks can be seen near Mount Taiwu, and there are also abundant rock fields on several coasts. For hundreds of years, Kinmen people have regarded granite as a superior building material. The bases of the traditional Minnan-style buildings where they live are all made of square granite blocks.
