Jiali Shan — Local services in Nanzhuang

Absolutely stunning hike that can be completed in around 6hrs for anyone of decent fitness. (We made it up in 3hrs with many breaks to take photos) Never a monotonous moment with the varying landscape and flora faunas as you go higher. The balance of climbs and flat paths allows time for you to catch a breath in between.

The trail is relatively straightforward, just follow the red arrows or tags. The hike involves cross a stream, climbing many boulders at the last stretch. Be careful and hold the ropes when crossing the stream! I slipped twice stepping on a slippery stone.

Also would advise bringing a stick for the down climb especially if you have weak knees.

Hiking aside, the sketchiest part for us was actually the drive up to the starting point of the trail which is a narrow road with some sharp bends. As city kids, this was definitely a challenge...

Great one day hike! You have to start super early or keep up a pretty fast pace if you want to finish it in one day. Having done that, I would probably opt for an overnight stay next time to enjoy the beautiful nature and stars without the need to drive back exhausted the same day. Getting to the peak is a bit challenging but totally worth it for the views. Bring a headlight or two unless you plan on spending the night in the surrounding woods. A hiking stick is also very helpful...

2021/11/21，苗栗加里山有響亮的名號就是台灣富士山，加里山我們來了，為了此行提早一天前往南庄一日遊，南庄老街、向天湖、東河吊橋、神仙谷等等景點，晚上住在鹿場部落，早上天還沒亮5點就起床準備，從鹿場部落開車至鹿場登山口約3.5公里，有先上網查過登加里山有鹿場登山口及大坪登山口兩處，但鹿場登山口的停車位比較多所以選擇從鹿場登山口出發，離開民宿後沿馬路一路向上，中間路段高低差大，如果是低底盤車輛可能容易磨到哦。

開車至最高處看到應該是民宅，旁邊有私人停車場一次100元，因為起的早所以停車場還很多位置，加上我們一共5台車而已，鹿場登山口就在停車場旁真的很方便，整裝後出發，一路走在柳杉林及闊葉林中相當涼爽，就算是出大太陽也不怕曬，加里山擁有豐富的動植物生態及特有的一葉蘭但是現在不是花季無緣看到它的美，山徑上也設有指標避免迷路，中途看到地面上有鐵軌遺跡，見證早期伐木時期興盛的林業。

山徑中途設有避難山屋，我們在此休息片刻，此處看指標也能通往大坪登山口方向，下次可以換走大坪登山口上來也不錯哦，步道每5公里設有木樁，約2.5公里處後開始比較需要攀爬的路段，我們有帶手套使用，所以順利通行，後面的山徑比較狹窄遇山友記得相互禮讓行程更安全，最後安全到達加里山山頂，加里山台灣小百岳之一編號34，海拔2220公尺，設有一顆一等三角點基石，山頂腹地不大，但是展望及視野是360度無敵的，真不愧是苗栗名山，山頂山友眾多熱鬧。

山頂景色遼闊風景宜人讓我們在此逗留許多，還有雲海相伴真的感覺很幸福，拍了好多好多照片，加里山真的好美哦，中午過後山區天氣多變，所以休息完畢準備下山，原路拆返至鹿場登山口，因為我們6點多開始走至山頂約9點多，10點下山遇到好多正往山頂走的山友，下山途中真的起霧了，希望別影響山友行程，今天一共走了7.49公里，耗時6小時13分左右含休息，台灣很美，對於喜愛戶外活動的人而言，台灣是寶島有70%是山林，要認識這片土地就是往大自然走去，一步一...
