The Hehuanshan national park and star park is one of a kind. Simple theory get here by 4-.4.30 am in the morning and you will be blown away by the amount of Astro night views you will see. Rarely have I have been to a place I have seen so many stars at once. If your into Astro photography then this is the place to try. Don’t forget if your coming here in the winter it can go low upto -6 degrees so please cover yourself properly. There are 3 huge peaks the east peak is the easiest climb and it’s a 30mins trek to get there. Please carry water and some food to make sure you don’t stay hungry. The sunrise over the sea of clouds is so great. You can spend hours looking at it. There are more trails and also big challenging ones if you are up for it. Just take a look at a Taiwanese website for details. After that there is a small convenient store where you can pick up coffee. Please be careful in peak winter there is ice and it can get slippery. Road conditions are good but they are pretty narrow so be aware driving. Book hotels at Cingjing farm or re-nai township when coming here. Definitely a...

The scenic drive to Hehuanshan along the Central Cross-Island Highway (Highway 14) is an experience in itself, offering a journey through some of Taiwan's most stunning landscapes.

The drive typically begins from either the west coast near Taichung or from the east coast near Hualien, depending on your starting point. Both directions offer scenic views, but many prefer starting from the west for easier access.

If starting from Hualien on the east coast, you may pass through the famous Taroko Gorge National Park, known for its marble cliffs, deep gorges, and turquoise rivers. The road winds through tunnels and over bridges with breathtaking views.

As you ascend towards Hehuanshan, the landscape changes dramatically. The road twists and turns through dense forests, revealing glimpses of towering peaks and expansive valleys below. Along the highway, there are several designated viewpoints where you can pull over and admire the panoramic vistas. These viewpoints often provide opportunities for stunning photographs of the surrounding mountains...

This is a beautiful place. We rode a motorbike from central Taichung to Cingjing farm and camped in Swish Garden. You can search GG for camping site there and call the owner to book a tent and place to camp. There is a 7/11 right there so at least you can't be starved. It's very cold at night even you go in the summer so please check the weather before you go. Next morning we rode to Hehuanshan. It's about 30km head to the mountain. There are buses going to Hehuanshan from Cingjing farm but you need to check the timetable and wait. For riding motorbike, the road is quite convenient and we've got no problem. Highly suggest you guys try a motorbike trip. It definitely worth it. There are few trails you can stop by and climb on the mountain. There are some notices: The temperature is quite low so please bring your warm clothes, hat and scarf. Prepare to go down the hill before 3pm because the sun is going down and the fog is quite a lot, that's not good for riding...
