We stayed here for 3 nights during the northern Serengeti part of our Safari, the staff were great and as soon as we arrived each evening, we were presented with freshening up towels and a drink. They really went out of their way one evening, when our vehicle had a mechanical problem and they kept the restaurant open for us to eat on our return well after dark and time (thank you again guy's).||Our tent was a very good size, there was an entrance lounge with sofa and a coffee table and we had 3 beds with mosquito nets all around in the main area. The bathroom and shower area is a breeze block built room within the cover of the tented area and was a very good size as well.||On arrival, you are given a key to the lock on your tent, (which can be locked from the inside or outside) and there is a whistle attached to the key fob, which you use to summon an armed escort to the restaurant when it is dark and they escort you back, carrying powerful torches.||The WiFi here was also very good during our stay.||The restaurant is built and situated on the top of a kopje, which affords some stunning views of the surrounding area, however the only slight negative to the whole camp is that to reach the restaurant, there are 39 quite uneven steps or a metal staircase. (but the views in daylight from the restaurant are well worth it)||Once again guy's, thank you all for a wonderful stay and we would highly recommend the Ikoma Wild Camp for a stay...
Read moreI stayed here for two nights with my family. The Tents were good with good facilities and a nice big bathroom with hot water. The verandah in front of our tent offered breathtaking views, making it a perfect spot to relax and take in natural beauty. The food at the camp was quite good, and we appreciated the variety and quality of the meals served. The dining area itself boasted a stunning view, enhancing our dining experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and exceptionally helpful, always going out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed.
One of the highlights of our stay was the range of activities offered at Ikoma Wild Camp. We thoroughly enjoyed the walking safari, which allowed us to get up close and personal with the wildlife and learn about the local flora and fauna. The sundowner was a magical experience, watching the sunset over the vast landscape while enjoying refreshing drinks. The night game drive was thrilling, giving us the chance to see nocturnal animals in their...
Read moreThe Ikoma Wild Camp was an amazing experience – to live in basic accommodation, right in the heart of the Serengeti, was truly unforgettable!
We had to be careful in the nights, and were escorted by security to dinner and back, as wild animals could be lurking in the dark 👀
Expect a tent-like accommodation, with no fans and just the necessities provided – but that’s really all you need to feel immersed in nature!
The camps range from zippable tents to small cylindrical-shaped huts – we stayed in both and loved the contrast.
The food was excellent and Chef Raj was super to us, even offering to cook meals a little spicier as we were missing our chilli!
Be prepared for animals to surround the tents – especially the zippable ones, as monkeys love to jump, climb, and be mischievous.
Sunsets were breathtaking, the sounds of the wild unforgettable, and waking up to the roar of lions or chatter of monkeys...
