We hadn't been to Tanzania before and were very excited about our holiday. We read numerous reviews on travel websites but couldn't find satisfying information on how to plan our 9-day trip. Then we discovered Afro-Vertex Tours & Safaris. They patiently answered all our questions and provided solutions. Finally, they presented us with a schedule for our holiday, including a 2-day safari at Mikumi, 4 days at Nungwi Beach, and 2 days in Stone Town. Our safari guide was waiting for us when we arrived at Dar Airport. We drove six hours to Mikumi National Park, an area of amazing natural beauty. We had the chance to see many animals, learn about them, and observe their daily lives. It was a lifetime experience. The highway required great driving attention, but thanks to our guide, we had no problems. From Dar, we took a ferry to Zanzibar and, after a one-hour drive, arrived in Nungwi, which has an incredible beach and stunning tide views. We enjoyed delicious seafood dinners and tropical fruits at our hotel. On our way to Stone Town, we took a short break for a spice tour and learned a lot about spices and fruits. The same day, we took a boat to Prison Island to see the giant turtles. We enjoyed the narrow streets of Stone Town and felt the sincerity of the African people. The next morning, we went swimming with dolphins, which was a fantastic experience. The captain then took us snorkeling, but it was cut short due to rain. Make sure your captain doesn't bring his phone, or you might have a shorter experience. On the way to Stone Town, we stopped briefly at Jozani Forest and saw red monkeys. I’ve been trekking Mount Kilimanjaro for over 5 years now, having previously completed two Everest Base Camp treks. I finally decided to tackle the base camp of Africa’s highest mountain with Afro-Vertex Tours & Safaris via the Marangu Route for 5 days. It felt like the perfect time to engage on this journey. I used to think that climbing the mountain would be straightforward—just one step after another with patience. Fortunately, I didn’t experience any symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), which can make high-altitude climbs extremely challenging. The promise of capturing stunning photos kept me motivated during the steep ascents. On the Marangu Route, I learned the significance of balance and concentration, even when exhausted. On summit day, I started at 4 a.m. amidst chilly winds and freezing temperatures, guided only by my head torch. From then until 6 a.m., my focus was solely on the exhilaration of reaching the summit.
