At first glance I was a little nervous. I knew it was a tented camp and I had seen pictures but you just never know. also it's fairly secluded so that's always a concern. My concerns were completely unfounded though because this place was really nice and the staff was amazing! The tents are much fancier than you'd expect. There are real floors (wood) and real beds plus running water and electricity so it's more of a glamping experience than truly camping. Our room (elderly mom and I) had 3 single beds in it with mosquito nets and a full bathroom with sink, shower, and flushing toilet. The beds had nice thick blankets which were appreciated because it did get cold over night...it's a tent. and it does get cool in there but the blankets were more than enough. There were at least 8 tents I think for guests but there could have been more as well as a dining tent and a lounge/bar tent. There were separate accommodations for the guides as well. The dining tent was quite spacious. We were there at the very beginning of May, still in the rainy season, and there weren't a ton of guests there at that time but we did see several other groups during our 3 night stay. The food was excellent. It was buffet style and while there weren't a ton of choices, everything was delicious at every meal. We also had 2 bush lunches from them (1 hot and 1 cold) and both of those were excellent as well. The lounge had nice couches and chairs with a fully stocked bar. And there was some outdoor seating around a fire overlooking the Serengeti. We didn't spend a lot of time there because my mom wasn't able to be vaccinated for yellow fever due to her age so we didn't take any chances with bugs that we didn't have to. We saw the same 4 staff members the entire time and they were so sweet and attentive. Please make sure you tip them!!! I don't know if they are expecting it but they deserve it. |We didn't see a ton of animals from the room/camp but we heard an elephant and hyena and saw some gazelles and impalas. Some other guests said they heard lions one night as well. |Overall it was an amazing place with amazing people and I would...
Read moreEnkirari Wilderness Camp was one of the lodges and camps that we stayed at on a 19 day safari through Kenya and Tanzania booked through Tapestry of Africa. It was without question the best, and most amazing, camp we stayed at during our safari.
Enkirari means central in Swahili and the camp, one of three (?) Acacia camps in the park, is located on the side of a hill in the central Serengeti. We arrived in the dark, met on the road up to the camp by masses of zebra and gnu, getting ready to begin the migration to the Masai Mara. It was unbelievable.
You arrive onto an expansive deck between the two main camp buildings, a large dining tent on one side, and the bar tent on the other, both luxuriously fitted out with beautiful furniture. As we arrived in the dark, we were escorted to our tent due to the possibility of encountering animals on the path. Each tent has a walkie talkie for you to request an escort from dusk through to sunrise to the main lodge tents.
Our luxury safari tent was HUGE and stunning. Unless we return to Enkirari, I don’t think we will ever stay in something so special ever again. A huge super comfortable bed, sitting area and a giant bathroom, all surrounded by a deck that looks down the slope of the hill to where the zebra and gnu were massing. Multiple power points around the tent allowed us to keep all of our devices charged. It was truly incredible.
The ever smiling staff just could not do enough for you. The buffet in the dining tent was excellent, and the cocktails from the beautiful bar were great as well.
It was just magical to sit out by the fire pit gazing down towards the plain, listening to the sound of the zebras and gnu.
We loved every single moment of our stay at the fabulous Enkirari Wilderness Lodge. If you get the opportunity, just go, be that either on an organised safari, or as an...
Read moreOur stay at Enkirari Migration Camp was truly unforgettable! From start to finish, the service went above and beyond—Isaac and every staff member made us feel not only welcome but genuinely cared for. The accommodations were incredibly beautiful, blending the magic of being in the heart of the Serengeti with all the comfort you could hope for. Tents were spacious, private and had everything you needed. Internet is available in the common areas not in the tents.||The food was excellent throughout our stay, and to our delight, the chef even prepared a special cake to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary—an incredibly thoughtful gesture. Chef Amos prepared delicious, hot picnic lunches. Laundry services were also available at extremely reasonable rates, which was a huge help during our travels.||Enkirari Migration Camp exceeded all of our expectations. With its warm hospitality, outstanding service, and stunning setting, it is truly a gem in the Serengeti. We could not recommend it...
