Arriving from Arusha we didn’t know what to expect of our first ever safari. But my goodness did it not disappoint. Daniel our guide for the next few days collected us from Seronera airport, cool box filled with beers and tasty snacks and off we went straight out for our first game drive. Within 30 minutes we saw a black rhino mother and her calf, and it was then we knew it was going to be a special few days. Camp Ewanjan is truely one of a kind, the decor reminded me of the camp in Disneys Tarzan, dark wooden furniture, suitcases, bookcases, globes etc, it was magical. The food was exquisite! We were so shocked at how fresh, flavourful and well presented everything was. The food was better than what we had at our 5* resort in Zanzibar! The level of service we received from every staff member was amazing, they got to know our names, our likes and dislikes, it felt so personal. I wish I could remember everyone’s names. Kibe was our housekeeper who did us a solid sorting our dusty safari clothes out and washing them for us. David our Maasai guard was brilliant, telling us stories and showing us the paths the animals had taken through the camp from the night before. On our 3rd day Daniel pulled off a miracle and we found 3 lionesses with 10 cubs. After no lion sightings, and him clearly feeling underwhelmed that he hadnt managed to find any, he worked so hard to locate them. On our last evening, Daniel our incredible guide, took me and my husband up a hill around the back of camp and we watched the sunset. He brought us 2 glasses and a bottle of wine and it was such a special ending to the most memorable 4 days. On the morning of our departure the camp staff came to wave us off and I cried haha. It was so hard to say goodbye I couldn’t bring myself to do it. If you are thinking of booking a safari to the Serengeti, ask your tour operator to use Lemala Ewanjan, you will not be disappointed! And to the amazing staff, thank you so so much for making our honeymoon the greatest experience. We miss you, I’m sorry I couldn’t say bye properly haha you were amazing! We absolutely will be back in the future ❤️. Shukrani sana,...
Read moreI can’t begin to express how much my husband and I loved the Lemala camp! The service was absolutely amazing and the staff were all so nice and wonderful. We had great conversations with all of them (Elias our server, Swali our room attendant, Denis the camp manager, and David the camp guard). The camp itself is literally in the middle of the Serengeti, so it’s very open and has an outdoorsy feel to it, so if you're not a nature person, this may not be the choice for you. But the perks of being situated right in the middle is that you can wake up and eat breakfast while watching all of your favorite animals off in the field across from camp!!! What a truly amazing experience. We had heard previously that some visitors were not a fan of hearing or seeing the animals so closely, but we absolutely loved that aspect and not once did we ever feel unsafe. They have guards on watch 24/7, and ours was from the Maasai, so they have experience with protecting from everything! I also loved getting to know more about the Maasai people from our guard (David) as well.
We spent 4 days and 3 nights at Lemala camp and then moved to the Serena Lodge at the top of the Ngorongoro Crater for 2 nights. While the views of the crater from the Serena Lodge were absolutely breathtaking and amazing, we actually preferred the Lemala camp because of the service and food. The food was literally top notch…..to the point I kept asking for the recipes!
We would definitely come back to this camp again and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves nature and truly wants to enjoy their safari experience. It was absolutely the trip of a lifetime!!!
Tip: The animals can get noisy, so we just played some white noise on our ipad to...
