The Jozani Forest in Zanzibar is an absolute gem that should not be missed! I had the most incredible time exploring this lush and enchanting forest. Walking through the dense vegetation, I was surrounded by a rich biodiversity and a sense of tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere.
The highlight of my visit was encountering the rare Red Colobus monkeys, which are endemic to this forest. Witnessing these playful and curious creatures up close was truly a magical experience. The knowledgeable guides provided fascinating insights about the monkeys' behavior and conservation efforts, which made the encounter even more meaningful.
Aside from the monkeys, the forest itself is a treasure trove of natural wonders. The towering trees, vibrant flora, and diverse birdlife create a captivating ecosystem that feels like stepping into a different world. The well-maintained trails and informative signs made it easy to navigate and learn about the forest's unique features.
I also appreciated the efforts made by the local community and authorities to preserve and protect this valuable ecosystem. It's heartwarming to see the dedication to sustainable tourism and conservation practices.
Whether you're a nature lover, wildlife enthusiast, or simply seeking a serene escape, the Jozani Forest is the perfect destination. I highly recommend visiting this extraordinary place to reconnect with nature, witness amazing wildlife, and support the conservation efforts. It's an experience that will leave you in awe and with memories to cherish for a lifetime. Warm...
Read moreSuper duper disappointing. Don't go there. Waste of money. Unbelievable they charge 12 USD per person for almost nothing. So what do you get to see ? You see some monkeys, not too many, and you see the mangrove trees. That's it. 45 minutes "guided" tour for two thing we saw and paid so much money, so poor, so disappointing. Moreover, the monkeys are seen where the entrance is, and when you.go to see the mangrove trees you need to take your own car/driver/taxi on your own. The park don't take/ride you from monkeys area to mangrove trees area - this was truly unbelievable. Moreover, in Jozani forest you are not allowed to touch the monkeys, not allowed to get close to them, just look, and not from too close.
If you want to see, touch, feed, play with monkeys go to kilosas nungwi zoo. Highly recommended. You pay 10 USD per person, the guided tour was AMAZING and fun, and we spent 2 hours, and we played, fed, touched many monkeys, including blue balls monkeys. And we saw ostrich , cobra snakes, turtles and sea turtles and antelope. We enjoyed the...
Disappointment starts right from the moment of arrival. Crowd of cars, crowd, you don't know where you are. Nobody shows you anything. Somehow you manage to get a guide. A group of 10-15 people get together and start the tour. Another bad review starts right at the start. The guide was visibly ill, he coughed throughout the tour and wiped his blocked nose. How can a sick person come to work among other people. The toilet in the national park has a smell that makes you want to vomit as soon as you get close to it because of the stench coming from it. The entire tour lasts about 1-1:30 hours, while when booking the appointment through the agency, it says that the tour of the park lasts 3 hours and that you walk an 8-kilometer path through the forest and monkeys. We walked a total of 2 kilometers. Monkeys could be seen in 3 places, approximately 10 monkeys in total and that was the only thing that was interesting in the whole trip. But it's sad, how much they destroyed the habitat of these beautiful creatures that there are so few of them left that in a few years you won't even be able to see them again. At the end of the tour, the guide asked for a tip, after we turned around and headed for the vehicle, as did another group that was on the tour with us, the guide scolded us to go back because we didn't leave a tip. I repeat, as on every trip, all these trips and tours are paid in advance to the agencies and it is not necessary to leave tips. If you are white, it does not mean that you are an ATM for money. Very unpleasant experience… I do not recommend going...
