Zanzibar hotels and their service was the worst experience in my travelling life..ridiculously high prices versus the service offered. One of them, in the main season , was while being fully booked renovated all hotel,so instead of enjoying holidays, you would hear benging and drilling all day and just one restaurant open for all the resort.Warning on the website? None, price they charged? High season rate. The rooms and services were never what to be expected from the prices they were charging for and never reflected the pictures from their hotels website. Please be aware that none of the hotels around the island has a private beach, se get ready on the constant harassment of local "beach boys" from whom there is no way any escape once you will leave your hotel premises. And there is no local authority to be seen around to curb this issue. Get ready that in 5start resorts, they will serve you instant cafe and majority of the menu items will not be available.Majority of the beaches has big difference between low and high tide and unfortunately low tide is during the day, so not too much chance for your swimm as well, loads of sea weed everywhere and the amount of sea urchins is just unbelievably high. Basically every day I would be finding some "extra items " on my bill I...

Zanzibar City in Tanzania is a captivating tourist destination, known for its beautiful coastline and diverse marine activities. The official language is Swahili, but most Zanzibaris also speak English. While the main road is paved, other roads can be quite rough, with cows, donkeys, chickens, and livestock often seen on the streets between areas. Driving is on the right-hand side, and cars can be easily rented from local offices at affordable rates, with payment accepted in dollars or shillings. Currency exchange is available at the airport. Although there are checkpoints that might request bribes, it's advisable not to pay if you're in the right, as strict laws protect tourists. When it comes to food, there are no famous international restaurants or fast-food chains, so it’s best to dine at hotel restaurants, especially the luxury ones, where you can enjoy high-quality meals at reasonable prices. One of the best things in Zanzibar is getting to know African culture and seeing how people live in this region. It's common to see Maasai tribe members carrying a sword and a wooden stick, but they are peaceful, friendly, and it's safe to spend time with them as carrying swords is part of their tradition. The city is generally safe, and I didn’t encounter any...
