วัดเก่าแก่อยู่กับชุมชนมานาน​ ก็คือชุมชนบ้านช้าง​ โดยมีรูปปั้นช้างเชือกใหญ่อยู่บริเวณประตูเข้าวัด แต่คนส่วนใหญ่รู้จักวัดนี้ในชื่อวัดค้างคาวแม่ไก่​ เพราะภายในบริเวณวัด​ จะมีค้างคาวแม่ไก่นับหมื่นตัวเกาะอยู่ตามต้นไม้ต่างๆภายในวัดไม่ว่าจะเป็นต้นฉำฉาต้นโพธิ์และต้นไม้ชนิดอื่นๆ นับว่าเป็นเรื่องแปลกที่ค้างคาวแม่ไก่อาศัยอยู่เฉพาะที่วัดนี้ไม่ไปวัดอื่นหรือบริเวณป่าอื่นๆ มาเที่ยวดูได้แต่ควรพกหมวก่่มและแมสมาด้วยเพื่อป้องกันกลิ่นและมูลค้างคาวที่ตกลงมา
