Where to start.... me and my best mate have been talking about doing a trip abroad for many years whist regularly fishing in the UK.. 90% of the time cold and stuck in the bivvy! So my mates retired now and he had never been out of the UK, so we got him a passport and and initially only booked Hookers for one day as we didn't know what fisheries were the best.. we booked onto jurassic for two days after our first day at Hookers also.. So firstly this venue is a different level to the other fisheries we visited. After our first visit we booked a further three days and nights fishing
Accommodation was perfect! Lakeside villa newly fitted to high standard, basically open the sliding doors to your raised deck fishing platform and to the side of every villa is your own plunge pool! This is definitely needed in the Thai summer weather.. The new restaurant opened whilst we were there so all the food is fresh red hot when it arrives at the fishing villa. You can eat in but for us it was about the fishing. Good selection of Thai and English food.
The team from management to the gillies are honestly there at your beckoning call! Simply the answer to everything was yes! Now my mate literally cast his rod maybe twice as he felt confident in trusting the gillies do the majority of casting. He's retired and after hauling in a big siamese carp the last thing he had the energy to do was re bait and re cast. These guys did everything for him litterally made our holiday. We left them with large tips and both of us feel we have had the plessure of spending some time with decent do anything for you people!
Now the part what we actually went for the fishing! First day 400lb Arapaima Siamese carp to 65lb, 45lb, 40lb Albino cat 35lb
Second visit 3 Arapaima 300lb, 260lb, 100lb Siamese carp 65lb, 25lb, 35lb, 50lb Red tail catfish 75lb Julian carp 30lb, 35lb
The total for 4 days fishing in excess of 1450lb.. By anyone's standards this is immensely impressive in 40degree heat..
If I could give Hookers a 10star I would! Fully recommend this fisherie.

Read moreI have visited and fished at Hookers several times through Feb and March 2019. For me it is by far the best lake within easy reach of Pattaya for big fish of multiple species.
This place has an excellent stock of preditor and non preditor fish from around the world. Its a decent size and has been thoughtfully designed for the angler and for the fish. I have been very impressed with fish care, which unfortunately is unusual at a lot of Thai fisheries.
The fishing equipment provided is of a high standard and you fish in a more European style with rod pods and alarms. The staff have been helpful and friendly each time I have visited and will do as much or as little as you want to assist you in the attempt to catch some of the varied stock. Drinks and food, both Thai and Western can be supplied to your swim or you can make use of the bar/resturant and Toilet facilities.
I have fished while on holiday (2 month) in Thailand for the last 13 years, in the few sessions I have had at Hookers I now have 5 new personal bests, alligator gar, Chinese big headed carp, African arowana, mekong catfish and siamese carp. It is very likely it would be more if I had not elected to fish exclusively for non preditors on 3 of the 4 visits so far.
Their website is accurate at the time of writing and I strongly suggest if you are in Pattaya and are a serious angler, a leisure angler or someone who fancies a different form of entertainment to give Hookers Lake a go.
I will be fishing there for the rest of my holiday this year and look forward to returning there over the coming years, in my opinion, it will get better and better. Update 2024. This lake has changed hands and been redeveloped. Fishing accommodation has been added along one bank, Thai style but luxury. The main building has been replaced with a 2 level one and is a venue/ restaurant in itself, called Catch. Sadly the cost to fish there now reflects that investment and luxury. Expensive and sadly, no...
Read moreI had a wonderful full week there in April. Joe, the Manager, showed me everything important on the first day and was there everytime, If i had questions about tactics or the infrastructure of the lake.
Danny, the Chief of the Restaurant, and his Team of Cooks and Service were incredible. The food was great, the drinks always cold. They even helped me organizing a little "Goodbye-Party" in my Last evening with almost all Staff.
The Fishing Guides are almost working in Perfection. They know every corner of the lake, showed me the best and most effective Tactics for the different Species and were helpful if I wanted to change something.
The Lodges are cool. AC works perfect, the beds are hard, which I love. The private pool was my best friend for short cooldowns during daytime and well used at nighttime to chill and relax with a couple of drinks.
Special Shoutout goes to Beam (one of the Staff). She used her freetime to wash my laundry. Thats not normal, but the employes at Hookers try everything to make this experience a Lifetime Experience.
By the way: i had really nice catches, including 2 fishes over the magical 200kg mark
Thanks...
