Saychon is a master of his art of Batik, and each piece is totally unique and colourful on locally made fabrics. There are a large selection of garments types and paint designs and colours to choose from.
When we were there he had two tiny kittens that he had rescued from the jungle and was bottle feeding milk in his studio.
Saychon also knows how to MIG weld like a boss as he built the whole studio himself, and if you get himself started he can talk for hours on barrier gases, voltage, feed rate and wire gauge etc etc. Highly reccomend.
We rented a scooter (200 bhat) and rode up here on the recommendation of a local expat - and so glad we did. One of the most memorable days of our 2 months in Thailand in 2022.
Lanta Noi has so little tourist development compared to the South part of Lanta for us it was really worth the trip. There are a few other interesting places to stop off as well. The food at "Lanta's cafe" was amazing. There is a quiet place further down the island with a broken pier (no shops or anything there). There are also a several traditional phishing villages on Lanta Noi (I guess this it's places like this where all the...
Read moreIt's too bad we have to leave a bad review of this place, but after we payed 1500 thb, the owner ghosted us and have not picked up or answer anything. He said he would ship it as soon as it was ready but it's been over a month and despite calling from multiple numbers he does not pick up!!! Which is very weird since we had a good time here and really trusted he would ship it.
We don't know what we did wrong, but if anyone is visiting this place, please ask the owner to reach back to us. We would really like the shirt we made and payed money for. And please make sure you get your stuff before leaving Koh Lanta because he does not ship it as promised. He seemed like a really nice guy so we have no idea why he...
Read moreMy daughters and I had so much fun doing this activity. It felt like a little bit of a trek to get there in our Tuk Tuk, but the drive is scenic and easy. We didnât make reservations and were able to stop by unannounced and make our own sarong. The owner was so kind and helped us when we wanted help, but also kindly gave us confidence as new artists. His story of starting this business is inspiring!
Someone stopped by asking the owner to commission a piece and he was happy to make it.
The owner even delivered the sarong dry to our hotel the next day!
We are excited to try buying the supplies to do this at home when we return to the states. We left...
