A gem of a place a few minutes away from Ao Nang's tourist packed beach road.

I've been fishing here on and off for over a month now and I can say its been a pleasure fishing there. The dam might be smallish but don't let that fool you. The fish there are big for the size of water. I caught my first proper fish in Thailand on my first day fishing there and added many other new species to add to my list on the subsequent visits there.

On the first day on my first cast with in minutes I had a fish on but it snapped my line with in seconds after the fish had run me to the other side of the dam, I just could not stop what ever it was. A few casts later I caught a 2.5kg Siamese carp, I was amazed how hard they fight for their size. Ever since that day I have caught several Red Belly Pacu, Sawai catfish, Tilapia, Snakehead, various carp all between 600g -8.5kg. My biggest Thai Carp there was 4.3kg and just the other day I caught a 8.5kg Siamese carp. I have also been hooked up on some massive fish that I didn't land either because they have straightened my hook or just bitten right through 20kg floro-carbon line like it was butter. I caught a Sawai catfish the one day and it had a fresh bite mark just behind its dorsal fin about 3 inches wide.

Whist fishing I have seen others take catch beautiful Julian carp and a Siamese carp about 10-12 kg. The fish there certainly give you a good fight.

The guide that works there is very helpful and very calm natured plus he speaks good English.

He showed me the setup they use that works for pretty much all the species they have there. I'm not sure how he does it but on a busy days he is running around so much helping everyone with their fishing and catches with both experienced and beginners. When there are children fishing he spends his time making sure they having a good time with their first fishing experience. Just let him know you a beginner and you need some help to get started.

I have gotten to know him quiet well since fishing there and we have been trying different methods on targeting specific species. While I had my own equipment, they provide everything you need, rods, baits, traces and nets. He will even go out to the shop and get you refreshments if you need any.

The bamboo huts next to the waters edge are a bit tired and need replacing but they offer a nice shaded and relaxing area to fish from.

I even got a few chances to fly fish, with my own fly rod, and caught Pacu and catfish.

Next time I come down to Krabi I want to see if I can catch the Red tail catfish, Arapaima and Barramundi.

I can really recommend this place to get away from the busy Ao Nang scene, whether you are a beginner or seasoned fisherman. Its a really good place to go relax and in a tranquil setting with the added bonus of some...

Went here for two days fishing, which was about 1250 a day, and it's good to see new photos from the park up. you will catch small pacu, mekong catfish, Siamese carp, and tilapia. There's always a chance for a bigger specimen or something a bit more rare. The bait however wasn't mixed well, far too wet on both days, I'd much rather do it myself as I have a lot of experience at local thai fishing parks, and from the rivers. I would recommend that you take extra bread for the hook, they only handed out a couple of slices and getting more is tricky. In a pinch just send one of the workers to the 7/11 to buy a loaf. I'd recommend it for a half day as something to do, or if you just wanted to take the kids out for...

Went to this place one morning and got skunked (the guy next to me caught quite a few fish). So the guy said since you didn’t catch anything you can come tomorrow for 2 hours for free! So I did and ended up catching quite a few small Mekong catfish, one tilapia and a nice size Asian carp. Great experience overall, really good service. I mean the guy was going and getting beer and cigarettes for a bunch of Germans fishing there. I mean what else do you want.

IMPORTANT Use their bait and their little rig thing. I went and bought small fish and chicken liver (which normally is amazing for catfish) but the only thing I caught anything on was their rig. I can see how people trying to do it their way...
