Great get away week end with family & friends. Best recommended time to visit is winter, or anytime of your choice. Have a cup of Doi Tung coffee during break. Place of interest : Mae Fah Luang garden Doi Tung Royal palace The hall of inspiration Phra That Doi Tung Doi Tung Royal project

If prefer, from here you may travel by mountain road to Mae Salong or Mae Sai. To get here : Engage a tour. Public transport. Song Tiew or Taxi. Forget about the less powerful Tuktuk. Drive yourself if you are comfortable with very winding, very narrow & Steep mountain road that have endless hair pin turn. Kindly slow down at blind corner, give a shot blast of horn to warn opposite traffic. Watch out warninh sign board only in red Thai. Watch out also land slide mud & rock. Engine best at 2.0 L or higher. Even I always drove, for safety reason I don't recommend self driven. Photo was taken during year 2005.

盾山行宫(Doi Tung Royal palace) 王太后启发展览馆(The hall of inspiration) 盾山佛塔(Phra That Doi Tung) 盾山皇家项目(Doi Tung Royal project) 也可以选择从这里由山路到美乐斯市(Mae Salong)或美塞市(Mae Sai)。

ENGLISH The botanical garden Doi Tung is about 40 km away from Chiang Rai. We approached from the "back side".

The serpentine road is of surprisingly good quality - which probably also has to do with the fact that the royal helicopter landing pad is located on this route.

There are three different attractions to see here - we made do with the botanical garden at 90 THB per person.

The garden is beautifully landscaped and there are many different plants to admire. We especially liked the orchids. These are housed in their own small pavilion with a waterfall.

In front of the entrance there is a small market with fruits, vegetables and traditional clothing.

A clear recommendation to visit this sight.

Exploring Doi Tung feels like discovering a hidden gem in northern Thailand. Once troubled by drug issues, it's now a beacon of sustainability and natural beauty. The verdant hillsides, adorned with terraces, offer a serene escape. Mae Fah Luang Garden is a vibrant tapestry of native flora, while the Doi Tung Royal Villa provides insight into its royal history. Beyond its picturesque allure, Doi Tung is a testament to resilience and transformation, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in its tranquil ambiance and rich...
