Retreat here can stay in, but slightly different from the traditional retreats.
Traditional retreats are very strict and focus mainly on taking the 8 precepts, chanting, listening to Buddhist sermons, meditation and doing monastic chores such as cleaning the monastic compound etc. No other activity for fun. Very beneficial for people who would like to live their life like a monk and work diligently on the Dhamma(Thamma). But some people, especially some of the lay devotees might not be able to withstand this.
Retreats in this temple currently, though the lay devotees are also encouraged to do monastic chores such as cleaning and sweeping the compound, offering food to the monks, doing morning and evening chanting & meditation, listening to the Buddhist sermons shared by the monks, the difference is that there are other activities such as the lay devotee volunteers will give some enrichment talks and some activities such as doing art works or sharing cooking courses in certain time of the day.
