Benyaran Museum — Local services in Phang-nga Province

Depending on what your expectations are you’re either going to live this place or hate it. We went with zero expectations and actually had a great time. This place is straight up weird. It’s a great spot for a photoshoot that’s for sure. If like all things kitch and vintage then you’re in for a treat. The collection is MASSIVE. How on earth the one person collected all that stuff is beyond me. Not speaking Thai makes it hard to get any real meaning from the displays other than the enjoyment and bewilderment which comes from wandering around the place. There are massive coin collections, collections of TVs old to new, vintage Thai movie posters complete with a recreated vintage Thai cinema. There’s a full old Thai courtroom with cabinets full of old legal documents, there’s machinery galore, a display of war memorabilia, basically anything that ever existed is on display here. Absolutely incredible. I went there with my family and had the chance to talk with the owner of the museum. He’s very friendly. I could see his determination in the things he collects. He collected EVERYTHING. And I mean EVERYTHING. From many many years ago. I could tell that he’s very passionate in giving knowledge about things from the past. He’s the most detailed person I’ve ever met. He doesn’t collect ‘things’ he collects stories.

What surprises me most is how clean it is with ZERO DUST. I don’t know how he does it. Literally, like even the small places like the keyboard from an old computer from the IBM period (30-40 years ago) has no dust whatsoever.

I’m extremely impressed with this place. I’m very grateful that I got to experienced such a good museum like this, and I really hope this place will get the recognition it truly deserves. Super worth it. Dear stranger, if you haven’t visited this place yet, WHAT...

Terrible place and very rude manager. On the way here there was nobody at the entrance, no price that you have to pay at the entrance. No information. When we arrived back from hike we were not allowed to leave premises, was demanded to pay 400 Bath, to leave, they closed gate in front of us and started screaming pay or we call police.
