5-Star Review: An Unforgettable Escape at Katathong Golf Resort, Phang Nga Title: Paradise Found – Luxury, Lush Greens, and Heartwarming Hospitality! We just wrapped up a magical 4-night stay at Katathong Golf Resort in Phang Nga, and words barely do justice to this gem of a property. From the moment we arrived, everything about this place screamed 5-star perfection – think stunning tropical surroundings, impeccable accommodations, a championship golf course that dreams are made of, and staff who treat you like family. If you’re seeking a blend of relaxation, adventure, and indulgence, look no further. This resort exceeded every expectation and left us already plotting our return.

Let’s start with the accommodations, because they truly set the bar high. We spent a couple nights in both Golfers Villa and upgraded to Superior Double.

These villas are perched right on the edge of the golf course, 5min walk to the main hotel building - but offering direct access to the fairways while maintaining total privacy. Inside, it’s all about upscale living: living areas with smart TVs with en-suite bathrooms. The outdoor terrace overlooking the pool – ideal for sunset cocktails or Chang’s. If golf is your passion, this villa setup turns your stay into a seamless extension of the course itself.

We then upgraded to the Superior Double overlooking the main pool at the hotel, which overlooks the golf course. The room itself is spacious and elegantly designed with modern Thai touches – think sleek wooden accents, plush king-sized bedding that invites lazy mornings, and floor-to-ceiling windows offering breathtaking views of the lush gardens and distant hills. The pool is stunning, it’s the perfect size for a refreshing dip after a day on the course, complete with shaded loungers and ambient lighting for evening soaks. The attention to detail, like the high-thread-count linens and rainfall shower stocked with premium amenities, made it feel like a high-end boutique hotel rather than a resort room. Spotless, serene, and supremely comfortable – we slept like royalty every night.

The championship golf course itself looked spectacular but unfortunately to recent arm surgery I was unable to play.

But what truly elevated our experience – and turned a great stay into an unforgettable one – was the staff. Every single team member we encountered was amazing, going above and beyond with genuine warmth and efficiency. The reception staff deserves a special shoutout; they were an absolute dream during our entire 4 nights. From the warm welcome at check-in.

Dining was another highlight, with the resort’s restaurants serving up high-quality food that rivals any fine-dining spot in Phuket. The flavors were fresh, inventive, and beautifully presented, using local ingredients with a sophisticated twist. We devoured the spring rolls as a starter – crispy on the outside, stuffed with veggies, and dipped in a zesty tamarind sauce that had us licking our fingers. For mains, the carbonara was a creamy, indulgent revelation: house-made pasta twirled with pancetta, pecorino, and just the right eggy richness, far surpassing what you’d get in many city eateries. And the salmon? Pan-seared to flaky perfection, served with a light herb crust and citrus beurre blanc – it was melt-in-your-mouth divine, highlighting the resort’s commitment to sustainable seafood.

None of this would have shone as brightly without the amazingly kind service from น้องเปรม and พี่ศศิ (Prem and Sasi, for the non-Thai speakers). These two were our dining superstars throughout the stay, always with infectious energy and that rare ability to make you feel truly cared for.

In summary, Katathong Golf Resort is a 5-star sanctuary that nails the balance of luxury, leisure, and local charm. We arrived as guests and departed as converts. Book this place; you won’t regret it. 10/10, would (and...

Not recommended. Rate should be around 3,9 at most comparing to other google listings.

Props: well maintained and huge area of land well maintained buildings instagamable swimming pool and piece of land  for those who are social addicted (HOWEVER IF YOU DO NOT GOLF YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ADMIRE LAND AS ENTRANCE IF FORBIDDEN) you get 20 minutes massage voucher but ...check their price list first before you want to use it :-) as is expensive comparing to good ones you could finde elsewhere

Cons: second day we did not ask for cleaning, the third day we ask for it when leaving but no one come even next villa  there were hotel's stuff when checking in in a room there was a lot of some air freshener thay you almost cannot breath- after strong smell of freshener went out we know the reason for it - literally anything in the room smells like mold , strange that mold was almost no noticable and even aircon was clean poor variety for breakfast and quality comparable with those for half of price - there was maybe around 50 guests in total, do not believe for booking reservatuon websites  as tables with buffet are almost empty with no selection; you have two predefined sets nothing for vegans in those sets; second pool next to golfer's villas is just an addition almost all the time dirty even stuff tried to clean it during morning in the area there are unfriendly dogs 🐕 (especially white one that is barking on small children) cleaning leafs with machines before 7 am did not help with sleeping construction site next to swimming pool did not help to rest as an addition  to other points

If you want to play golf - I would say recommend. If you want to book some of golfer's villa do not risk. We try to do anything to get rig of the mold smell not using aircon all the windows open during few days long stay but smell of mold stayed in the room all the time what is even worse mostly in the bed and pillows .

As our child is sensitive to air quality we try to put  our blanket on the bed and use his pillow but we end up with him with runny nose the first day anyway. We start to cough as well. That literally made our stay a nightmare as little one  we will be coughing 2 days more at least.

Not sure about other golfer's villas but at least two of our neighbours were also  coughing - not sure about reasons here so maybe we were...

If you love golf and lovely views this is the place. The golf course is reasonably priced compared to Phuket. The putting greens are a bit dry but the views and difficulty make up for it. There is a river that runs through the property, waterfalls and a large Buddha. If you don’t golf there is fab spa and a large pool (don’t t try to use it during high season as families dump their kids there, so for relaxing adults you need to time taking a swim which is annoying ). No idea why bringing kids as this is an isolated mountain retreat golf/spa hotel geared toward quiet relaxing. Small workable gym and miles of bike trails. Our room overlooked the valley and pool. Could hear the river. The beds are super comfy and some rooms have balcony jacuzzis. The Thai food is authentic BUT you must ask for spicy Thai or it’s bland tourist. Unfortunately their breakfast is not great. The egg station is okay but the rest feel like leftovers. Maybe best at 7am when not devoured by families with kids. Could and should be improved. I suggest bring your own yogurt/nuts/berries/fruit as they only have cereal with cantaloupe and watermelon. Usually Thai buffets are better.I recommend whole fish for dinner as that is made to order. First stay here the food was great but second stay Christmas the food was super average/bland/some didn’t arrive at all ….so kitchen went way downhill. Maybe new chef? Drinks are fine. Rooms: Again first stay was stellar second stay my balcony was filthy and I had black feet walking back into room. Maid service was very poor with them not showing up in the morning, lunch or afternoon with the clean my room displayed on door. When they did arrived 4-5 pm? they washed the jacuzzi with their hands? Why? They need to improve this. Still it’s a beautiful place with a good spa …overpriced but worth it. The issues are families taking up all chairs and all umbrellas is annoying. First time we came off season it was quiet and peaceful which is the time I recommend for couples/golfers. Staff is friendly and kind but can be clueless. Would not recommend for special occasions/holidays but solid for golf and spa on off season. Still the view will keep me coming back….with some cleaning supplies in my car haha umbrella, earbuds, fresh pasty/food and hoping for...
