Phutajor — Local services in Phang-nga Province

We headed up to Phutajor from Phuket, looking to check the road condition with a few to camping overnight at the top, for great morning views. My friend had hiked the whole route maybe about one year ago.

We were able to ride our scooters up carefully as the trail was not too bad (dry, and my friend said they had improved it's surface) We arrived at the gate at around the 5-6km mark, to be greeted by a sign that displayed the most outrageous mark up in prices between Thais & 'foreigners' that I have seen yet.

Thais pay 30 baht, 'Foreigners' pay 400 baht

Are you freaking kidding me? I attempted to negotiate a lower price in Thai, explaining I have been living here for 11 years, have work permit, driving licence, pay my taxes etc.. all to no avail.

My friend also is a tax-paying 'foreigner' living here for more than 3 years. To count us as if we are tourists is more than just not fair - it's a greedy cash-grab and blatant xenophobia. You can bet that money is just going to fill pockets, nothing more.

We were going to do a recce, with a view to returning for the camping trip. But seeing as they doubled the price since my friend went there last time, we decided to not bother.

So fed up with this kind of discrimination, there should be some distinction made between 'falangs' that are just visiting and those who live here, are married to Thai spouses and pay their taxes!!

If you want an extreme challenge, then this is a place to go. We went with my wife and daughter on 2x motorbikes. The offroad track is 7 out of 10 difficulty. Locals said there is nobody going up with bikes, just 4x4 pickups. Its 14km one way real offroad trail. Need 1h to go up (if going fast) rapidly and 30min down. On 7th km have to pay 200TBH entrance per person. Locals go for the sunrise. If it is wet, it will be no way to manage with a scooter, just not possible. The view on top is precious. Please note, that the google maps takes you to a wrong entrance point, the right one is 700m before. See the sign in picture. If you want to travel back towards Phang Nga or Phuket, then you can go left at the end of entrance and continue the road further even if the google maps shows its no road. You can go through palm tree plantation and save some 40km of detour. If my wife did the drive up the mountain with just 1x month by the wheel of scooter, then you can manage...

ภูตาจอ ภูเขาที่เป็นจุดที่สูงที่สุดของ จังหวัดพังงา อยู่บนความสูงกว่า 1,350 เมตร มีจุดชมวิวที่สามารถมองวิวได้กว่า 360 องศาเลยทีเดียว รวมถึงยังมีเมฆหมอกสวยงาม พร้อมอากาศหนาวๆ เย็นๆ ทำให้ที่นี่ มีนักท่องเที่ยวเดินทางมาเที่ยวกันอย่างไม่ขาดสายเลย เพราะนอกจากจะชมวิวสวยๆ ได้แล้ว ยังสามารถมานอนกางเต็นท์ ทำอาหาร ชมทะเลหมอก และพระอาทิตย์ทั้งขึ้นทั้งตก ได้ด้วยเช่นกันโดยไฮไลท์ของที่ ภูตาจอ นั้น ก็คือการสัมผัสกับบรรยากาศ ของทั้งพระอาทิตย์ตกท่ามกลางป่าเขา ซึ่งในทางทิศตะวันตกนั้น จะสามารถมองไปได้ถึงทะเลอันดามันเลยด้วย และช่วงเช้า นอกจากวิวของพระอาทิตย์ยามเช้าที่สาดส่องแล้ว เราก็จะได้สัมผัสอากาศหนาวให้สั่นๆ พร้อมทั้งทะเลหมอกสวยๆ ด้วย อุณหภูมินั้นจะเฉลี่ยอยู่ที่ 15-20 องศาเซลเซียสเลยบริเวณพื้นที่ของบริเวณ ภูตาจอ แห่งนี้ จะอยู่ในพื้นที่ของเขตรักษาพันธ์สัตว์ป่าโตนปริวรรต ที่ในอดีตเคยเป็นเหมืองแร่ดีบุกเก่า เรียกกันว่า เหมืองตาจอ นั่นเองค่ะ โดยจะมีตาจอ หรือนายจอ เป็นผู้บุกเบิกเข้ามาทำเหมืองเป็นคนแรก มาจนกระทั่งหมดยุคแร่ดีบุก ก็เลยปล่อยให้พื้นที่นี้ทิ้งร้าง จนได้มาทำให้เป็นแหล่งท่องเที่ยวแนวธรรมชาติและผจญภัยขึ้นมาค่ะ และในปัจจุบันก็ได้กลายมาเป็นจุดชมทะเลหมอกและชมพระอาทิตย์ขึ้นอันดับต้นๆ ของภาคใต้ เลยทีเดียวการเดินทาง ขึ้นไปยัง ภูตาจอ แต่การจะเดินทางไปยัง ภูตาจอ นั้น จะต้องอาศัยรถที่ลุยได้ไปเท่านั้น อีกทั้งเส้นทางก็โหดมากๆ เพราะมีทางชันกว่า 60 องศา ต้องอาศัยความชำนาญอยู่พอตัวเลยค่ะ แนะนำว่าใช้บริการรถของชาวบ้านจะดีกว่าค่ะ สามารถติดต่อรถนำเที่ยวที่ ที่ทำการผู้ใหญ่บ้านบ้านช้างเชื่อตำบลเหล อำเภอกะปงได้เลยค่ะ โดยระยะทางขึ้นไปภูนั้น จะแค่ 3 กิโลเมตรเท่านั้น แต่ใช้เวลามากถึง 2 ชั่วโมงเลยค่ะ พอถึงด้านบนก็ต้องเดินเท้าอีกประมาณ 10 นาทีนะคะ ถึงจะถึงจุดชมวิวของ ภูตาจอเป็นอย่างไรกันบ้างคะ กับ จุดชมวิวทะเลหมอกและพระอาทิตย์ขึ้น อันดับต้นๆ ของ ภาคใต้ ที่ ภูตาจอ จังหวัดพังงา แห่งนี้ เป็นที่เที่ยวสวย ที่ต้องลิสต์เอาไว้เลยใช่ไหมล่ะคะ ใครยังไม่เคยไปชมก็ต้องลองไปสักครั้งนะคะ แล้วรับรองว่าจะอยากไปอีกหลายๆ ครั้งอย่างแน่นอน ส่วนใครที่เคยไปมาแล้ว ก็มาแชร์ภาพสวยๆ ของทุกคนกันดีกว่า...
