Review of Tham Namlot Kao Daeng
I have always wanted to visit a cave temple, my dreams where made possible when I visited the famous Tham Namlot Kao Daeng cave temple in Phattalung, Thailand.
This hidden gem is located in Phatthalung a scenic region of Southern Thailand, a popular hideout for nature lovers and adventure thrill seekers.
Here lies a stunning cave that surely will offer an awe-inspiring experience, with its vast, intricate chambers and crystal-clear waters. Once inside, it's totally a different world the landscape is filled with stalactites and stalagmites that have been naturally sculpted over millennia.
The journey to Tham Namlot Kao Daeng from Phatthalung town takes about 20 minutes through some village road which is indeed adventure in itself. As you approach the cave, the dramatic limestone mountains set a perfect backdrop, here's where the adventure begins with a peaceful atmosphere.
Once inside everything changes the cool, damp air is a welcome relief from the heat, and the cave’s vast, open chambers invite exploration. Read moreWe didn't expect much and were surprised by this large cave. Upon entry to the cave looks more like a bomb shelter. Don't be discouraged by all the concrete, it will get much better as soon as you are a bit further in. There are several legs in this cave to explore, some are quite narrow and you have to squeeze through, others are very wide. Take a few small coins and put them in the donation boxes in front of the big statues. You will hear a loud chant and blessing from a speaker inside the statue. Definitely put money into the Ghanesh statue (the elephant one) you will hear Indian style music playing… very nice actually.
It takes about 30-45mins to explore the entire cave and is a nice activity for a hot afternoon when the sun outside is scorching hot.
