Just about to book another trip to Jurassic and realised I didn’t do a review from my trip there in 2022. Booking: The process was super slick and Jo was patient with all my questions and constant changing of dates. I feel for her as she’s had to go through the same again this last week !!! We were in Bangkok / Krabi for a holiday and decided to bolt some fishing onto end of the trip. I thought 3-days would be enough…it wasn’t. The pricing is very fair bearing in mind you just turn up and fish and all you pay for is extras (drinks) on top. All your gear is provided; rods / reals / terminal tackle / alarms / pods and of course bait. Transfer from airport to Jurassic: We arrived (from a beach holiday in Krabi) into BKK about 4:30pm and our driver was waiting promptly for us. Transfer was a little longer than normal but the traffic was pretty busy due to our flight arrival time. The car had WiFi so I managed to watch the footy which took up most of the journey. Accommodation: The suites are fantastic and immaculate. Beds are comfy and it’s equipped with everything you need whilst you’re there. Free WiFi too and smart TV (from memory). The waters are only a few mins walk to the suites so nice and quick if you do need to go back for any reason. Each swim has a cabana / hut with a seated table, fan and a cool box for your drinks. You will use this area more than you think as it gets very humid and you’ll be desperate of some shade after playing a fish for 30+ mins. Oh yes…watch out for the lizards (they are harmless). I saw the tail of one and thought it was a huge snake and didn’t go in the hut for the rest of the day. Sunburn ensued !!! Restaurant / Food: The food is excellent at the resort with a varied menu. Breakfast and lunch are delivered to your peg via a concierge service using WhatsApp along with drinks during the daytime. This is the future !!! Fishing: I’m a river angler so bite alarms and bobbins have no place in my tackle bag. I was quite nervous at the thought of fishing a completely different style vs. what I’m typically used to but on reflection almost everyone I talked to (unless they’d been before) had an element of nerves as it’s a completely different experience targeting the types of fish that are in the species lake. That said Tom, Ollie and George made me feel at ease as we ran through the setup. The guys are extremely helpful and full of useful tips and advice. They’re pretty busy in the day running the resort / media duties but do pick their brains in the evening. I struggled on the first day but a few tips from George re “bait location” and I was away. If your not catching then ask for advise as these guys / gillies know the place inside out. I struggled the first day but once a I found my feet I felt more comfortable with fish location and tactics. I had x4 Siamese and a Tambaqui (over the three days) but my target fish was a Redtail. Thankfully I managed to hook into one about an hour before we left the resort so all the hard work paid off. Special mention to the gillies / bar staff / waiting staff / chefs and everyone you don’t see as they 100% make the place. Everyone had a friendly face and the place runs like clockwork. Fish-care is second to none and the team are extremely passionate about their profession. This is a 6/5 review as I honestly couldn’t fault the place, my only complaint is I didn’t fish for long enough and now wish we’d have cut the beach-holiday short and had a few extra days here. My (non-fishing) partner was with me and she enjoyed it thoroughly and found it relaxing. I’m currently sat here freezing on the Warks Avon and can’t wait for October to come when I re-visit Jurassic with my two angling friends. Target fish are a 100+ Siamese and an Arapaima. Gav / Gemma.

Back in 2018 we made enquiries with Jo, booking was confirmed for us to arrive in October 2020 but then along came covid.. Jo / Jurassic have been amazing throughout, everything we booked was honoured on all re bookings, Jo became my sounding board for new queries / concerns as the rules to travelling to Thailand changed at times almost weekly but Jo guided us through it all and after several years of emails / calls in July 2022 we finally made it to Jurassic and WOW 😮 I really don’t know where to start, after 24hrs of travel and walking through the gates it was like entering paradise. We received the warmest of greetings by Mai, who helped us settle right in. The Resort: Outstanding, the team of gardeners really know what they are doing everything was always so pristine, from the lawn to the walkways all over the resort including the swims.. no detail is left out! The Accommodation; the villas are outstanding and you really spoil us with daily housekeeping. Everything from the space, there is so much of it the photos and 360 tours just don’t do it justice everything is just right even a large lounge with our own TV and satellite package (we never used as enjoyed being out and about in the resort every day) but for families or rainy days it’s definitely a perk. Delivery Service: WhatsApp, you are onto a game changer so much so I have had to advise this concierge service is unavailable at home 🙄 Within a short time of sending a request one of your wonderful staff would appear by foot/scooter to deliver what ever was requested it really was a luxury! The Staff: The Gillies + Tom and Olly, they are like encyclopaedias their knowledge and understanding it’s not just knowledge it’s true passion and clearly something they love and enjoy as their enthusiasm really does come across! Amm, a great gillie and a real character you would see his beaming smile from miles away and definitely got the British wit.. I think after a few days with Jamie you realised you were in for an amusing couple of weeks. He is so grateful for all of your help answer guidance with the fish he brought in and the ones he lost 😬 This is the easiest ever ‘we will see you soon’ it may have been the longest awaited holiday, but oh my wasn’t it worth it! Not only was our expectations met your surpassed everything we thought possible and it was so sad to leave you all. Jurassic is a special little gem it’s not a place to go on holiday or go for a fishing trip, this is an Experience where you will never be disappointed and you will just want to come back to be part of something truly wonderful.. and maybe catch some Monster Prehistoric Fish along the way! We really can not wait to come back and experience Jurassic!! Much love Jamie and Lisa

We had an amazing 5 days at Jurassic and were gutted to leave! Angling is my partners hobby not mine and I booked this as a birthday present for him with slight apprehension about how much I’d enjoy it myself, but in the end we both left having had an equally great time! I was expecting similar vibes to carp fishing in England with lots of groups of lads in camo but actually it was mostly lovely couples and some larger groups of adult families and we made lots of friends. The location of the resort is so picturesque and the hotel has all the amenities you could need including spacious rooms and a great pool. Tom the manager has set the fishery side up brilliantly - him, Oliver and all the gillies will give you as much or as little help as you want and despite what must be very long days for all of them, they always seemed to be genuinely enjoying themselves and were never too busy to stop, chat and give useful tips and pointers. Whilst not cheap it’s definitely fairly priced considering 3 meals a day are included as well as great quality tackle and a really generous bait allowance (we didn’t meet anyone that actually managed to spend all their vouchers!). I think the drinks and tackle/bait that you can’t use your vouchers for are reasonably priced as well, considering they have a captive audience and could pretty much charge what they want in reality. The WhatsApp ordering system in the swims is also a great idea, and the swim allocation is as fair as you could get. 5 days was the perfect length of time to get the most out of the fishing but not get bored. In the end my partner caught 18 fish (which he did have to work hard for!) including an Arapaima, a 115lb Siamese, an alligator gar and a chao phriya as well as lots of red tails, smaller Siamese and some other types of carp from the Species Lake. If I had to pick something that would improve it for me personally I would say that a slightly bigger selection of veggie/plant based things would be a bonus, like veggie sausages on the breakfast menu or avo toast, a bigger selection of salads for lunch and dinner or maybe a pasta option that doesn’t involve cheese. Having said that all the veggie curries and stir fries we had were delicious and varied enough to keep us entertained, so it’s definitely not a complaint. Overall a great experience and hopefully we’ll get the chance to come back and fish/experience Jurassic again. If you want the chance to catch some massive fish and you’re prepared to put in some effort then we would definitely recommend - and remember there’s no bad swims just bad anglers :)
