This is one of the most interesting museums I've visited in Thailand:) Founded in 2011, the Garuda Museum only opened to the public last year and is open to pre-booked visitors every Friday and Saturday. There are three rounds of guided visits per day (in Thai), each taking 1.5 hours.
You can make your own way to the museum but they do offer a free two-way shuffle service from BTS Keha (last stop on the Sukhumvit line). When booking your visit, you can also reserve a seat on the minivan but do so at least a day in advance.
There are six zones in the museum covering two storeys. The exhibitions start from the mythological origins of the Himmapan Forest and its creatures to the birth of the Garuda and its long history with Thailand. Read moreHidden gem! FREE ENTRANCE. The museum is comprehensive and beautiful —perhaps because it’s managed by private sector. There are tours scheduled four times a day, we joined the one at 3pm and it takes 1.5 hrs for the normal tour. The tour guides speak limited English, so we had to read on our own and had our tour cut short to 30mins. But their hospitality is top notch, we tried our best to communicate.
