good walk spoiled. arrived at HuaHin on Monday, April 12 to play at Black Mountain. since I am stay in HuaHin for 4 days and playing at BM everyday, I wanted to fit in Banyan Tree but alas closed due to Covid flare up. finally checking everyday since the arriving huahin, course opened up. after the morning round at Black Mountain, I head to banyan tree with an excitement.
after checking in at the proshop, I decided to pick up a souvenir golf shirts. sign seem to say everything is on sale 20-40 percent off but what do I know since the sign is in Thai... I pick up a shirts and ask if it were on sale. No, the staff says. she asked me to pay ??? amount shown on the calculator instead of ringing up on the register. after paying, I left the shop feeling they pulled a fast one. I could be wrong...
on the course, I started with a par and a birdie from blue tee. felt it was going to be a good round. the caddy, on the par 5 third hole after a good tee shot, about 240 to the green, ask me to hit toward palm tree on the right. I am a single handicapper priding on course management. from the fairway, tee appears to be running away and left side would be a better approach. I asked how far to the left penalty area and asked for 8 iron to lay up about 150-160 which will leave me 90-100 to the pin. as I was getting ready for the shot, the caddy told me to aim at the palm tree. of course, I chunked my lay up... after the hole, I told the caddy to not offer unsolicited advice... by then, I was in bad mood and caddy was probably in worse mood... needless to say, I finished with mid 80s. not bad but not what I expected.
the course has signature banyan tree rest stops, club house appearances, but on the edges, lacks what one expects from banyan tree. somewhat disappointed with the experience today. on balance, the course is definitely worth a or two visits. interesting holes with collection areas to avoid which my distraught caddy did not warn for an obvious reason. in order to play well, least two rounds are called for. good course to visit if you are in Huahin. Warning.: greens are not puttable. For a nice course like this they can invest on a good machine to make it...

As a proud 12-handicapper (on paper—on-course performance may vary), I rolled into Pineapple Valley Golf Club with optimism, fresh golf balls, and just enough self-confidence to believe I might break 85. Spoiler alert: I did not.
First off, let’s talk about the views. They’re so good, I almost forgave myself for topping my first tee shot 40 yards into a bush. The course is carved beautifully into the Hua Hin hills, and while it’s stunning, it’s also sneakily designed to test every ounce of your mental stability—and your short game.
Fairways? Immaculate. Greens? Fast enough to make you question every life decision that led to a four-putt. The undulations here are no joke. I read one green like a novel… and still ended up three feet short.
The layout is a perfect blend of “wow” and “why did I try that?” You’ve got elevated tee boxes that make you feel like Rory (until you actually hit), and water hazards that seem to be magnetically attracted to Pro V1s. I personally donated three.
The caddies are legends—equal parts golf whisperer, therapist, and comedian. Mine gave me a read on the 14th that was so good I sank the putt and briefly considered proposing.
All in all, Pineapple Valley is a must-play. It’s beautiful, brutal, and blissful all at once. If you’re a 12-handicap like me, expect a rollercoaster round filled with the full range of human emotions… and maybe bring a backup glove for when yours gets sweaty from both nerves and humidity.
Would I play it again? In a heartbeat. Would I score better? Probably not. But at least I’d look...
Read moreThis is indeed a five star course that is very well maintained and challenging even from the white tees. Unless you are a low handicapper, the varied terrain enable golfers to be challenged every now and then. We had a memorable outing at Pineapple Valley.
The caddies were very impressive and could adapt to the golfers very well. Because of their services and patience, we had a very great time experiencing Pineapple Valley golf course. They were very knowledgeable and professional, with fantastic eagle eyes that could spot our balls wherever it flew too and many time not on the fairway. One of our golfing member was not so well versed with the game and the poor caddy professionally, patiently and caringly provided her with her best services. This did make a great difference to the golfing experience.
The club's amenities were also very well maintained. The half way house was well stuffed with different drinks. The drinks were slightly lower that that in Palms Hill. Changing room could equate to that of any five star hotels.
Overall, we really enjoy our second outing in Hua Hin and all thanks to the management of the club that went all out to ensure that all aspects from course maintenance to caddy services to amenities etc meet the expectation of a best course in Hua Hin. Thank you Pineapple Valley for giving us a...
