The Thai government has built a beautiful, brand new and quite large border crossing here, which occurred during the Covid shutdown. The border facilities were completed sometime around 2021, but have never been used so far, since the border remains shut, despite Covid being in the rear view mirror. The reason the border remains shut is due to most of Myanmar being mired in civil war and bloodshed.

I understand that local traders may be allowed to cross with conditions, but only on certain days (would need to verify). Unlike Mae Sot and Mae Sai, ordinary Thai and Burmese citizens are not permitted to cross, like they were pre-Covid.

The border crossing has been slated to be upgraded to international status, but this never occurred, though the upgrade does appear to be the Thai government's way of saying "we believe it will one day serve business people, tourists and investors from all over the world, not just short-term Thai tourists and border traders."

Should peace one day prevail in Myanmar, it's quite likely that this border will eventually allow foreigners to pass through. Sadly, that day is likely to be years off. I predict it won't happen for at least...

Quite market but overall the quality of things sold are very High quality not necessarily the designs. Unfortunate for the shop owners as they told us that border trade stopped since Covid and still due to the ongoing tension in Myanmar. There were wonderful wooden furnitures and other items made of woods. ช่วงที่ยังไม่มีโควิด 19 มีสินค้าของพื้นเมืองจากพม่ามาขายมากมาย เปิดขายทุกวันโดยสินค้าที่ขึ้นชื่อของที่นี่ได้แก่ กล้วยไม้ป่า เพราะป่าทางพม่ายังคงความอุดมสมบูรณ์อยู่มาก จึงทำให้ชาวพม่าเข้าป่าไปหาของป่ามาขายให้กับคนไทย ซึ่งกล้วยไม้ที่มีขายที่นี่มีหลากหลายพันธ์ ได้แก่ กระเช้าสีดา หวายสี กล้วยไม้ดิน กล้วยไม้ป่า แวนด้าม๊อก รวมไปถึงรองเท้านารี ที่หายากและมีราคาสูง ก็ยังสามารถหาซื้อได้จากที่นี่ โดยชาวพม่านำมาขายในราคาถูก ตั้งขายแบบแบกะดิน นับว่าเป็นสวรรค์ของคนรักกล้วยไม้อย่างแท้จริง ตั้งแต่ปิดด่านชายแดนอันสืบเนื่องมาจากโควิด 19 สินค้าต่างๆที่ชาวพม่านำมาจำหน่ายก็ไม่มี ร้านค้าส่วนใหญ่จะปิด แต่ก็ยังคงมีร้านจำหน่ายสินค้าที่เป็นของคนไทยมีจำหน่ายมากมาย เช่นเฟอร์นิเจอร์ไม้ บอลสีบอนไซ กล้วยไม้ชนิดต่างๆก็ยังมีวางขาย ด่านนี้เป็นด่านชายแดนไทยไปสู่เมืองมะริด ของประเทศพม่า ในสมัยก่อน ด่านสิงขรเป็นช่องทางที่ไทย - พม่า ใช้เป็นเส้นทางผ่านติดต่อไปมา และมีชื่อเสียงในด้านการรบ การคมนาคมติดต่อค้าขาย โดยเฉพาะการคมนาคม ด่านสิงขรเป็นเส้นทางที่พวกพ่อค้าและนักเดินทางทั้งชาวไทยและชาวต่างประเทศใช้เป็นเส้นทางลัดระหว่างมหาสมุทรอินเดียกับอ่าวไทย และจุดนี้ยังเป็นส่วนที่แคบที่สุดของประเทศไทยโดยวัดจากชายฝั่งทะเลจรดชายแดนไทย - พม่า ที่ด่านสิงขรระยะทางเพียง12 กิโลเมตรเท่านั้น
