If Chob is actually charging 1k Baht an hour for an actual English, farang friendly speaking guide with boat that is fair, routing has nothign to do with it. It should be 1k an hour regardless of routing. In our experience Bangkok is generally a very racist country towards foreigners (Farang). You notice many business have what they call foreigners price verses the Thai price. Vietnam passed laws against this double standard in order to protect foreigners from so much dishonesty happening. The saddest thing is that you see this at temples for example. Blatant racism. Foreigner price vs.Thai price. Is not hostile racism; just calm, smiling, friendly racism. Thailand has a lot of lovely people and is certainly the land of the Dharma. However street vendors and Boat runners for tourists can be very dishonest. because of the view of Farang. Booked a private boat tour for our group, including 3 young children. I’ve asked during the booking if they provide life jackets for the children and we were told yes. I also provided the age of the children during the booking.
