Wat Tha Tien dates back to 1918 making it one of the oldest temples in this part of Thailand. It's situated on the banks of the gracefully winding Tha Chin river and covers a large area.
There is also a display of ta-khian trees. These are part of a group of the original trees used to build the temple in 1918 but were left in the river. They are on display so people can pay their respects to the ghosts that inhabit some of the trees.
The school includes really old buildings no longer used as classrooms and more modern facilities where the kids currently learn.
Along with the usual Buddhist temple buildings there are two buildings dedicated to a previous head monk, Pra Lamai. One holds his body and the other is a museum dedicated to his remembrance.
