Read moreCheow Lan Lake in Khao Sok National Park is not only a natural wonder of Thailand but also one of the most unique destinations I have ever visited. Created by the Ratchaprapha Dam in the 1980s, the lake stretches over 165 square kilometers and is surrounded by dramatic limestone karsts that rise majestically from emerald-green waters. The landscape has a grandeur that is both serene and awe-inspiring, comparable to the world’s most famous natural landmarks.
What makes Cheow Lan Lake truly exceptional is its atmosphere of untouched wilderness. Despite being a man-made reservoir, the ecosystem has flourished, and the area is now home to rich biodiversity, including hornbills, gibbons, and even wild elephants. Cruising through the lake feels like entering a lost world—remote, quiet, and deeply connected to nature.
One of the highlights of staying here is the experience of the floating raft houses, where guests can wake up to mist drifting over the water and the calls of wildlife echoing through the forest. This is not simply accommodation; it is immersion in nature at its finest.
Unlike more commercialized attractions, Cheow Lan Lake has maintained its sense of authenticity and exclusivity. It is a destination that combines ecological importance with breathtaking beauty, making it ideal not only for leisure travelers but also for those seeking a deeper appreciation of Thailand’s natural heritage.
In short, Cheow Lan Lake is more than a place to visit—it is a rare opportunity to reconnect with nature in one of Southeast Asia’s most...
Read moreI mean, this place is a typical place to visit but I don’t understand the hype. The young lady at the ticket shop is rude and she won't help you at all. If you want to share a boat, I strongly recommend you find people before by yourself, otherwise she'll make you wait for nothing there. The boat trip is ok, but just that, nice views and you'll get the typical pic. Most of the people get there with the trip already arranged and usually overpriced. If you ask there they'll try to charge you quite more just by including food in an overcrowded boat. Best choice it is to book the basic trip with at least four people for 2000 baths in total. You'll get the same experience for 500 bath each or even less. Also a good tip if you visit before the national park in khao sok and you enter from 04.00 pm you can reuse the same tickets for next day at the lake and you won't have to pay again (200 bath each person). In short: tourist thing avoidable unless...
