The Golden Castle, Wat Tha Sung — Local services in Uthai Thani Province

"The Golden Castle," officially known as Prasat Thong Kham or Prasat Thong Kanchanaphisek, was built as a royal tribute to King Bhumibol Adulyadej's 50th anniversary.

The upper floors (2nd and 3rd floors) function more as a kind of museum exhibition and are therefore only accessible with a separate ticket. These floors house, among other things, sacred relics, rare statues and royal memorabilia. These include

This is a highlight of Uthai Thani and should definitely be on your list if you're visiting the province. If you also visit Wat Chantaram there are little trucks that will take you to and from the Golden Castle. Besides the castle itself which is really beautiful with its courtyard and flowers, there are also a few lovely buildings, statues and smaller temples you can see in the immediate area, so take a walk around. ที่มาของคำว่า ปราสาททองคำ (กาญจนาภิเษก) เนื่องจาก ปีพ.ศ. ๒๕๓๙ เป็นปีที่ พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ ๙ ขึ้นครองราชย์ครบ ๕๐ ปี ท่านเจ้าอาวาสจึงนำการสร้าง "ปราสาททองคำ" ขึ้นถวายเป็นพระราชกุศลแด่พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว ในวาระที่ทรงเสวยราชย์เป็นปีที่ ๕๐ และทางสำนักพระราชวังได้ให้ชื่อปราสาททองคำใหม่ว่า “ปราสาททองกาญจนาภิเษก” เริ่มสร้าง ตั้งแต่เดือนมีนาคม ๒๕๓๖ มีซุ้มพระยืน ๘ ศอก ประดิษฐานบนยอดปราสาท ขณะนี้ปิดทองเสร็จเรียบร้อยแล้วทั้งองค์พระและซุ้มพระ ในการก่อสร้างปราสาททองคำ ท่านเจ้าอาวาสได้ให้พระสามารถซึ่งมีความชำนาญในด้านศิลปลายไทย ดังเช่นบุษบกที่ประดิษฐานสรีระสังขารพระเดชพระคุณหลวงพ่อ ปราสาททองคำมี ๓ ชั้น มียอดทั้งหมด ๓๗ ยอดเป็นยอดเท่าๆ กัน ๓๖ ยอด ทรงพุ่มข้าวบิณฑ์ และยอดตรงกลางเป็นยอดใหญ่ ๑ ยอด ส่วนบนสุดของปราสาท สร้างพระพุทธรูปปางลีลาขนาด ๘ ศอก ๑ องค์ หันพระพักตร์ไปทางทิศเหนือ มีบันไดขึ้นทั้ง ๔ ทิศ ขณะนี้เทพื้นเสร็จทุกชั้นแล้ว กำลังก่อผนังด้วยอิฐแดงทั้ง ๔ ด้าน ที่เห็นเสาตั้งอยู่หลายเสาจะทำมณฑปต่อไป “ปราสาททองคำ” อาคารขนาดใหญ่ที่มีความวิจิตรงดงามประณีตมากๆ ส่วนต่างๆ ของปราสาทตกแต่งด้วยทองคำเปลว ติดกระจก ซึ่งปราสาทแห่งนี้สร้างขึ้นเพื่อถวายเป็นพระราชกุศลแด่พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้า อยู่หัว ในวาระที่ทรงเสวยราชย์เป็นปีที่ 50 พื้นที่ภายในปราสาทจะใช้เป็นสถานที่เป็นพระพุทธรูปที่ญาติโยมนำมาถวายวัด แต่ในปัจจุบันบริเวณภายในยังคงเป็นพื้นที่โล่งกว้าง...
