Mazı village, whose ancient name was "Mataza", is 18 km south of Ürgüp and 10 km east of Kaymaklı Underground City. Today, only 2 floors of the underground city, which is thought to have four floors, can be visited. Four entrances were identified in different places, the main entrance is through a corridor made of irregular stones. The large bolt stone in the short corridor ensures the entrance and exit of the underground city under control. The small room in the interior is made for the sliding stone to move easily. The barns spread over large areas of the underground settlement are no different from the others. From the stables, a short corridor leads to the church of the underground city. The entrance of this place can be closed with a bolt stone. The underground city, the Mazı Underground City Landscaping Project, which was closed to visitors since 2003 due to the safety of life due to collapses, was completed and opened to visitors again in July 2015.

Müze kart ile girilebilen turizme açık bir yeraltı şehri. İçerisinde kilise dahi bulunuyor. Az sayıda turist oluyor ve gezmesi rahat. Çok derinlere inmiyor ama keyifli.

I wish this underground city is spoken more publicly. It's amazing!!' We had already been to the Derinkuyu underground city and was driving back when we decided to pop by for a photo of the front... Thinking they are all the same. We parked up and started taking photos, when the gentleman said mazi underground city. We explained we just talking photos and had been to one already. He said have a good day and left us to it. I don't know why, but me and my partner thought the gentleman was nice and we said let's ask how much... If it's more than 50 we leave if it's less we go in The tickets are 25 liras (March 2023) I absolutely loved Mazi underground city. It was brightly lit, they had sand down making it more comfortable and the display is different I highly recommend Mazi over Derinkuyu

29/08/2022 We visited five underground cities in Cappadocia, each one is unique and mysterious. It is not true that it is a small area, the city is quite vast, it does not even resemble a cave in the slightest. I recommend to visit + also for people, who manage their claustrophobia from narrow dark corridors and tunnels, at least like me... The best experience at the end - the cashier took me and a group of young people to the hatch through the narrow ventilation shafts, we climbed about 4 floors up and exited through a door in the rock. After a long flight of stairs, we returned to the parking lot. Thank mr guide for an unforgettable experience worthy of Indiana Jones. More Youtube travel video PSIS-visit....
