We came up to Aberdeen to play a 3 day open encompassing Cruden Bay, Trump and Royal Aberdeen.

We had a late flight the next day so decided to give Murcar a try, having seen it from Royal Aberdeen.

We’re so glad we did. What an amazing course. Really stunning holes, quite tight in places. But massively enjoyed it.

The greens were the best we played on the trip.

Best of all was the people who run the club. The pro shop was the friendliest I’ve ever experienced.

The bar staff and food were fantastic.

And when we struggled to get a taxi to the airport because it was a Friday and every taxi firm was busy. The club steward’s husband and junior organiser kindly ran us there. What a great guy! And what a club! Give it a try, you won’t be...

Before the round, the pro warned me that it wasn't the longest course, but it was the tightest. He was bang on. Off the tee Murcar is not too demanding, but it will really test your approach shots and it is very easy to lose a ball having hit a solid tee shot.

The course is beautifully routed. It must be said that the first nine is the more spectacular, running along the coast for a good five holes, with lovely views into the North Sea. It was in excellent condition. The highlights include the two-tiered fairway on the 3rd, the par 5 4th (the most testing and tight par 5 - I can vouch that going for it in two is not a good idea) and the strategic 16th.

Thank you to the young pro for such a warm welcome, it was an...

Was due to play in the bannerman open from the black tee's Unfortunately the fog put paid to that open cancelled and rescheduled till later in the year, I'll update my post in due course

Unfortunately couldn't make the rearranged open, hopefully I will get a chance next year

Well I finally got the chance to play murcar open after last year's cancelled open and it was most definitely worth the wait. Fantastic greens that putted true throughout the 18 holes a few blind shots from the tee that would be played differently after playing the course a fee times, definitely worth the wait mid 20° weather with a gentle breeze couldn't get...

I don’t often come on google to rate anything, but Murcar was a very special golf course so I felt compelled! From the moment we arrived all the staff we spoke to could not have been more helpful and welcoming... from the charming pro shop team to the lovely lady behind the bar. The course itself is a proper links challenge, is immaculately manicured and has real character. Just don’t expect to hit long coming back into the wind on the back 9!

Great course in perfect condition when we played in June ,tough holes which will test lower handicap players but there is wide fairways on others to allow higher handicapper’s to enjoy there round ,great views across the North Sea and surrounding area.Very enjoyable day with friendly atmosphere, will definitely play again .
