Wedding September 2018 I’ve had nothing but problems from day one, and been ignored - they’ll take your money but they won’t be professional or deliver on any of their promises! They’ll cancel your vendors behind your back and then lie about lying about it!
It feels pretty personal at this point.
Want a dance floor? Well some couples can but you can’t. They’ll cancel it for you behind your back then call you a liar when you ask about it.
Want candles? They’ll big up what a ‘brilliant’ idea it is then tell you a YEAR later you can’t. Well some couples can have them but you can’t.
Oh you already paid for them? Well they won’t tell you until it’s too late to do anything about it.
You want the bespoke lights that have a full page advert STILL in the October 2018 brochure? No you haven’t been able to book them since before March 2017 when I tried, oh but some couples can. Just not you.
Want to complain? Oh well they’ll blame everything on the caterers that they MAKE you choose as part of their contract, then they’ll trash the caterer to you 3 weeks before your wedding saying how sub standard they are and blame everything on them, the caterer that can ‘cater to any budget’ but you later find Allerton sets their prices so they have no choice but to charge you a minimum around £7k.
I emailed management with my numerous issues and concerns only to be ignored for two weeks (this is 6 weeks before the wedding!) and then for Janet, the manager, to finally respond by calling my husband instead. They don’t want anything in writing of course.
Brochures are full of lies and things you cannot have to this day, including the website and pdf versions - no excuse not to correct this for future couples! But of course they don’t tell you any of this until it’s too late.
We were treat disgustingly and called liars once we raised the issues to add insult to injury - the castle is beautiful there’s no denying but the people who run it are rude, misleading, pompous and I would not recommend to anybody.
The cherry on the cake came today after I had requested A MONTH ago not to use or share any of our photos after they banned our photographers from doing so with our engagement shoot - they go right ahead - didn’t tag me of course!
Feel free to ask me anything if you are thinking of choosing Allerton Castle for your wedding but please don’t say I didn’t warn you.
having received a response beneath my review months and months after my review was posted I’d like to add Allerton staff did not try to contact me privately at all after the online reviews but instead ignored me for months trying to remove my reviews themselves, with no involvement from me nor an explanation as to why we have been treat this way, and then threatened me with legal action if I didn’t do so in December. That has been first contact since and the matter is now being dealt with through solicitors on...
Read moreWe had our wedding at Allerton Castle in May and the experience was not only unforgettable and magical but also a breeze.
From the moment we saw photos of the castle we knew that was our venue. Sophie was our coordinator and she was so helpful the entire process. We were planning everything from the US, so we figured it was going to be very difficult to get this coordinated. We were wrong though. Sophie answered all of our questions swiftly and with detail. She had suggestions for us when we needed vendor advice, and the venue as a whole, was very flexible with any requests that we had. Bradshaw’s (catering for the venue) was equally as helpful and kind.
The venue is absolutely stunning. Every room more impressive than the last. Warning, we barely had guests dancing because they were too busy exploring and taking photos of the space itself.
On the actual wedding day, everything went without a hitch, and everyone was floored by the venue. It was a lot to ask of our guests to all fly in from the US, but we got an overwhelming response that it was worth the journey. We had dozens of guest tell us that they’d been to many weddings where the food was sub-par but that the food at Allerton (Bradshaws) was the best they’d had.
Thank you so much Allerton Castle for making this truly the most magical day...
Read moreMy husband and I chose Allerton Castle as our wedding venue for November of this year, and we definitely made the right decision!
Our wedding planner, Zoë, was amazing from day 1, always there if we needed her, and gave us so much support and guidance and really went above and beyond on our wedding day.
The Allerton Castle selected caterers, Bradshaw's of York, gave an excellent choice of food and drinks and were prepared to cater for my gluten free guests. All of the food and drinks were brilliant and excellent quality and the service was outstanding.
All of the staff on the day were extremely professional and pleasant.
We stayed overnight and the bed fit for royalty within the bridal suite was extremely comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was lovely too.
Ourselves and our guests were all stunned with the beauty and detail of the building both inside and out, it really has a wow factor!
I really could not recommend Allerton Castle enough for people who are considering it for their wedding venue. It was the best day of my life and I wish I could go back and do it...
