Amazing! Someone else commented that it felt like Mars and I agree! Such an odd landscape but still so many colours in the rocks. We spent an hour here wandering around to the lookout, bridge and windmill. There are a couple of info boards around with illustrations. We didn't walk the full loop around but it seemed a pretty straightforward route. You can't walk down into it. The trails weren't super well signed but there are arrows painted on small posts. On the walk back to the car, I recommend walking back the way you came. The path it leads you down is long for no reason and nothing interesting to see. There's lots of large stones everywhere so watch your step, especially near the edge. Parking was easy and free at the base of the walk.

A fabulous place, especially if, like me, you love geology and industrial heritage - it's a dream place. Once the world's largest copper mine carved out of the heart of a volcano using pick and shovel (and a bit of explosive :)).Amazing colours, in some places still smelling of sulphur. The rock formations are fantastic. A real alien landscape. I spent hours wandering the paths (I didn't wander off them!). Downsides - the app to guide the walk and explain the markers is only available on iPhone and the interpretation centre was closed (early May 2019) - I would have loved to understand more.

Amazing walk around this old open iron quarry situated approximately five minutes drive from Amlwch, there is a car park, I visited during the winter and was free but am unable to say if it there is a cost during the open season. The walk around will take an hour or more during how long you stay to look the incredible oxidation that has occurred over the years with it being a open copper mine, it really is like nothing I have ever see when you are used to green and browns in the countryside, you are hit by how much reds, purple and so unworldly colour its like being on another planet. Highly...
