Interesting to revisit this review a few months later and see a few others mentioning car park chaos. Edit The path that runs at the side of the duckpond from the car boot COULD be widened. There is ample room at the back of the market site (near the arcade) to move some of the stalls to create space, there were stalls here years ago. Just because something has been "the same" for 37 years doesn't mean it has worked in that time (I've been coming here since 1994 and the market and carpark has always had problems with overcrowding/lack of space) and quite frankly, it's "always been the same" attitude is bad for business. You could maybe move some stalls inside where the cafe has taken half of the room up over the years? There was an abundance of fake items on the market on Sunday, if I was that way out, I'm sure trading standards would be very interested. Not to mention the selling of vapes to people who looked very young. There was no car park management at 12 o'clock on Sunday, the only guy there wearing an high Vis was sat smoking near where the coaches used to park). I am not the only person who has complained about the lack of car park management over the years. Also, gravel can be removed and a tarmac area placed with disabled spaces marked, not too hard to do. As a "business" that attracts so many visitors, you have a legal obligation to make this market accessible under the Equalities ACT 2010. You managed to tarmac a quarter of the car boot area years ago? The car boot was full of new goods. Maybe expand the market on there if the car boot isn't really a car boot anymore? I didn't buy any food from the market, I meant to put "popular" instead of good.

Has some good food stalls like the Donner wrap guy. Unfortunately let down by a few things-

  1. Poor layout creates heavy crowds meaning you can't actually get to stalls to buy things.
  2. lots of low quality and questionably branded/potentially fake items.
  3. Poor car park management means it's chaos when exiting the carpark. No line markings for carpark spaces and no disabled spaces (it's not a disabled space if it doesn't have clearance either side for those who need to open door wide).
  4. Car boot was about 45% new goods or sun faded "new in box" and you had to pay about 50p to get in!
  5. Rude stallholders on the market made the atmosphere feel tacky...

Could be loads better but the market management have let it be flooded with fakes and rip offs and clearly don't want to do anything about it as its rife though-out the whole market. We fell foul of this allowing my 7 year old to buy what we assumed was a real lol doll with her birthday money. The packaging looked real but on opening when we got back it was poorly made and bits fell off it straight away. My daughter was distraught that the so called lady on the stall had the audacity to take her money.

Edit: WOW.... pretty sure a passive aggressive responses calling a customer a liar isn't the correct way to turn a negative into a positive but hey-ho each to their own. Could you clarify which bit of my review isn't true, is it the bit were I said the market is flooded with fakes, because if it's that then why are there two stalls selling fake Radley purses, the stall the review is about, the stalls selling the fake CK boxer shorts or the fake fragrance stall. Or was it the bit about management, were i said they don't care, surely they'd have a close eye on the venders giving them bad reviews if they cared in the smallest amount. We where miles away from the market by the time my little girl realised she'd been ripped off by someone using your services to fence their fakes. A company that cared would have most likely replied with something along the lines of "I'm sorry you have had a bad experience and vender relations is something we look closely at, if you feel you were sold a fake then please call or email us on {insert number/email here} and we can act upon your evidence." pointers for the future, and obviously I think even less of the market after that reply so I've reduced my star rating...

An Absolutely amazing carboot and market and well worth a visit, they are so many stalls to choose from so you can almost garentee there is something there for everyone regardless of your tastes. I have to say we particularly enjoy a breakfast from zoes cafe, the staff are lovely, the food itself is cooked beautifully and the ingredients are great quality and surprisingly very cheap for what you recieve and the quality of the food.

We travel from whitby at least once a month amd enjoy our visit everytime, its definitely well worth a visit if you fancie a decent carboot with the bonus of the market.

EDIT....what has happened to zoes inside the market, used to be really good but the last few times the food hasn't been at temperature especially the beans which come out freezing cold but even the sausage and bacon was cold/Luke warm and definitely not at correct temperature, definitely need to sort this before someone becomes seriously poorly, it's a shame as the quality of ingredients are spot on and very cheap to the point I'd happily pay a few quid more if the...

The car boot was OK. It was smaller than expected and I thought they would be more. They was loads of sweets and icecream vans but not a lot of items to be bought. In my opinion it could have been bigger. It was cheap to get in, 50p per person and under 16s free which was a positive start to the outing. They was some toy sections, clothes,Tools, sweets and more. My faveroute was the cosmetic stand, you could get new things for Cheaper. I got a fair amount of things for about 20-30 pounds. It was alright and was what you would expect from a car boot. The person I was with took delight with the dinosaurs and loved the cheap prices. They were plenty of cute dogs which my own pup loved to play with. If you want to come I recommend that you bring around 30-40 pounds to spend or more. It really depends if it’s busy or what you buy. Overall it was an alright day and we were there for about 2 and a bit hours so it’s recommended . Thank you Skirlington market! PS ILL PUT PICTURES OF WHAT I BOUGHT

Great place to go, plenty of stalls with new stuff and a car boot part, stalls have nice products and great prices, plenty of options for food and drink, also have a fresh meat van for all the butchers meats at great prices, if you want a bargain I'd go here. EDITED due to me getting the price for the car boot part wrong, I've been informed by the owners its 30p not £3 to enter, sorry for any confusion caused, if I lived closer I'd go there every weekend, they also have a very beautiful pond area full of ducks, so if you want to grab a bargain or just go for a nice day out and a look around I'd suggest taking a trip to skirlington market

As always a great selection of stalls inside and out . Meat wagon , bread, hardware, garden ornaments , fruit n veg, clothes English, continental, you name it and the market has it . Large parking areas, public toilets, snack bars, kids entertainment , duck pond, bird aviary , helter skelter absolutely allsorts . Descent prices on most stuff but there are some that can charge s bit too much . Example been a t-shirt stall had items for £25 that where only £14 on a stall in York. Same make size design . So just be careful.
