The actual park and experiences are really good, so open and clean , with kids park , boating, water sports , cafes , sandpit. Went today to go on a pedalo, had booked 2 hours in advanced and made sure we turned up 15 mins early. Had to wait in line so didn’t actually get checked in until the time we was supposed to start but that was no problem can’t control it being busy. Went outside to where we’re meant to get life vests and the guy told us to wait there while He helped everyone else onto whatever boat they was getting on. It was now 15 minutes passed the time we was meant to start and everyone else had been put on their boats. The guy then put the rope across the walkway and went inside/came out until times . New people turnt up right next to us wanting to get on a boat and the guy walked passed us and straight to the new people ready to take them on their boat??. We then told him again for like the 3rd time we’ve been waiting and after the nice desk girl came out he tried to play dumb like he didn’t know we was there (even though he told us to wait and was kept reminded we was waiting). If it was busy I’d have no problem at all especially on a hot summer day, but everyone else had got on their boats and left, wasn’t one other person waiting and he was just standing there. I had a disabled 3 year old with me too , in the sun, wearing a life jacket waiting. We ended up only getting 40 minutes on the boat rather than the full hour , after paying £40. Dunno what his problem was but needs abit of common sense especially when you can see a disabled child. Other than that the whole experience was great, so much lake to travel around, receptionist were so nice and helpful, was busy but again you expect that on a...
Read moreI recently visited Alton Water Sports Centre with the intention of enjoying a peaceful barbecue with family. Upon arrival, we selected a suitable spot on the picnic area, ensuring the grass was short to minimize fire risk. The barbeque was above the ground level. However, a member of the club mistakenly advised us against having a barbecue, citing concerns about potential damage to their equipment.(It was far away from any equipment !)Despite our small, disposable barbecue posing minimal risk, we were unable to find a designated barbecue area. Seeking clarification, we approached the reception, where we were informed that barbecues were permitted anywhere on the picnic area. Returning to our original spot, we were met with further confusion when a member of the club complained to staff. Ultimately, we were asked to leave, despite adhering to the guidelines provided. It's disheartening that such a simple activity as a barbecue was met with such inconsistency and inconvenience. The lack of clear signage or easily accessible information regarding barbecue restrictions is a significant oversight. Moreover, the differing treatment experienced by members and non-members is unacceptable. I would strongly recommend Alton Water Sports Centre to review their policies and...
Read moreAwesome! My partner and I each took a single Kayak out for an hour which cost £26 in total which at first might seem a bit steep but when you consider that all the equiptment and information is provided as well as staff on duty acting as life guards I think it's very reasonable. All staff are friendly and welcoming and whilst safety conscious, they are focused on making sure you have fun. Quick tips: You're going to get wet (shoes and all if you don't take them off) so a change of clothes is advisable. The kayaks have elasticated tie down straps at the back which are ideal for a few snacks in a carrier bag. There's also a section for a drink situated between your legs too, perfect for a 500ml bottle (bring one, you'll be glad you did). Remember that the water will reflect sunlight so if it's a bright day and you're not a fan of sunburn then it's a good idea to get sun cream on especially for kids. To summarise if you haven't done kayaking before try it here where it's safe and supervised, it's...
