Part of the Peckforton hill range and on the sandstone trail, these woods are managed by the National Trust. Paths are unsurfaced but well worn and run along the base of the hill as well as the more challenging paths up the steep hillside. Popular with dog walkers and anyone seeking an atmospheric woodland experience. Lots of people also enjoy hill running along the trail. Your comments

Amazing place, beautiful views, woodland walks, ridge line walks, caves, Iron Age hill fort. It’s got it all to be fair. Parts are stepped and in the woods a lot of tree roots are exposed so prams and push chairs are going to struggle. It’s a fantastic place to visit and you can spend hours here in this picture perfect place.

Great place for walks and exploring the sandstone caves and cliffs. The area is huge so would need most of the day to explore. The terrain is uneven and abit bumpy but it is nice easy hike there are places to stop and rest on the way up. Good for families with children and dog walkers.

One of my favourite places for a quiet walk. Plenty of paths through woodland, farmland and over hills. Some fantastic views over the Cheshire plains. A trip to the Bickerton poacher is also good to break up the walk and it's dog 🐕 friendly. Bickerton hills is a lovely place for a few hours peace and...
